ACTIVITY COMPLETION REPORT

Title of the Activity: Tree Planting Activity 2019

Date and Location: April 2, 2019

BNHS Inside & Outside School Campus

Summary:

Planting trees for the environment is good as they are renewable, biodegradable and
recyclable. If we plant trees the earth will get oxygen, trees will give off oxygen that we need to
breath. Trees reduce the amount of storm water runoff, which reduces erosion and pollution in our
waterways and may reduce the effects of flooding. Trees help fights climate change.

Thus, in sustenance to all this benefits that trees gives us, and in support to the Project
GREEN program of the school, and in response to the local community submerging problem
during rainy season & typhoons, the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-
O) together with the Supreme Student Government works hand in hand with the Grade 12
graduates of Barugo National High School come united as one for the tree planting
activity held on April 2, 2019 alongside Naliwatan River near Himanglos Bridge of Brgy.
Poblacion District II of Barugo, Leyte.
The said activity was a great success with the joint effort of the school principal,
Ms. Evangeline Mercado and other proponents, the YES-O adviser, the SSG President
and the YES-O President, the Grade 12 BNHS Advisers and graduates, plus the never-
ending support coming from the community of the barangay.

Actual Result/Outcome:

A successful tree planting activity was accomplished and became remarkable

from the joint effort of the following advocates, Ms. Manilyn Astilla, YES-O adviser, the
SSG and YES-O President, the Grade 12 BNHS Advisers and the graduates, plus the
never-ending support coming from the community of the barangay, and the unswerving
advocacy of the school principal, Ms. Evangeline Mercado in support to the community
and to the school Project GREEN program.

Problem Encountered:

The only problem that the planters have encountered is the bad weather
condition, since the rains poured before and during the tree planting activity.
However this does not hinder the determination of the advocates and the purpose of
the activity at all.
Lesson Learned:

“We have the Power to change the world”, we cannot make trees, but we can
sure plant them.

While nature can survive without us and we can’t without nature, we still hold
an important role to nature and trees. We are all accountable to one another, and it’s
never too late to start a change in perspective about our role with trees.

Trees give unconditionally, and through the years we have forgotten to thank
the trees for their generosity. This time we had the chance of giving back. Though
the whole journey was a little bit tiring, there wasn’t a single person who didn’t smile
by the end. The feeling of having been able to give back to trees is satisfying.

Sustainability/Replication:

E D U C AT I O N , everyone must know the lessons about the importance of trees.

health, and climate.

and how we can help make a change.
