Course Description:
“The quality of the system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers.” - Andreas Schleicher. Department of
Education recognizes the importance of lifelong learning for teachers. The Continuing Professional Development of
teachers ensures that they enhance their competence and efficiency as well as values and commitment. For this to
happen, effective schemes for management of performance of teachers have to be in place. Woyessa (2015) in his
paper defined performance management as “continuous process of identifying, measuring and developing the
performance of individuals and aligning performance with the strategic goals of the organization.”
The Schools Division Office of Caloocan is committed to the mission and vision of Department of Education but
likewise support the continuous professional growth of its teachers to lifelong learning. Hence, this Division In-Service
Training (INSET) 2019 is conceptualized to address both the need to deliver the goods and ensure effectiveness of the
teaching force as main determinant of learners’ success.
Objectives:
1. Strengthen teachers’ skills in various strands of professional standards as prescribed; and,
2. Rekindle commitment of both teaching and administrative personnel in upholding the department’s
mission and vision thru effective performance management.
