Every day we try to care for and love our students as part of our Catholic, Ursuline

mission. We support all our Ursuline students both past and present.
Ursuline Academy fosters community in an atmosphere of mutual respect by
enhancing understanding and cooperation among all Ursuline students regarding
different cultures, ethnicities, learning styles, opinions, religious traditions, sexual
orientation and socio-economic backgrounds. It is our belief that diversity brings
richness and meaning to life, and that exposure to a broad range of talents,
perspective and experiences better prepares the young women of Ursuline
Academy for full participation in our school, local, and global communities.
Ursuline’s administration made a choice to withdraw a recent edition of our
student newspaper because it stirred confusion and even questions about what
Ursuline’s mission and values represent. Ursuline manifests care and love for our
students as part of our mission. We foster a diverse community in an atmosphere of
mutual respect, and where we hope all of our students will use their voice with a
careful consciousness to provoke thoughtful leadership.
We are going to take the time to review our protocols for our publications before
setting any firm policies. The Foundress of the Ursulines, St. Angela Merici, calls
us to recognize the unique gifts of the individual, and we do not want to silence
any student’s voice and we are committed to that tenet.
