Crawling Through the Window of Opportunity

For years we have heard the phrase “the narrow window of opportunity” but we never hear about “the door of opportunity.” Frankly, walking through doors seems a lot easier than crawling through windows. But there is a subtle truth here. Diligence and insight makes the extra effort to enter into God’s blessings and decide in His “defining moment.”

We have one of this nation’s great biblical communicators with us this weekend, Dr. Chip Ingram. He is also incredibly warm and personable. Dr. Charles Stanley stated that his most memorable introduction was when a Filipino preacher simply said, “Here is a servant of the Most High God.”That’s Chip! I love to preach and to keep continuity in my sermon series. However, a week ago I felt uniquely compelled by the Spirit to ask Chip to speak on the weekend. You can “crawl through the window of opportunity” and apply his practical teaching.

You have another great opportunity this weekend which requires a carpe diem decision at Beach Baptism. Seize the opportunity to obey Christ’s command as we go to our special place at the Gulf by Venetian Village. The glory of God is always so real in the midst of His creation. When our stage is erected soon for the Living Christmas Trees, we will not be able to baptize in the Worship Center for a month. This is your golden opportunity.

As we will soon witness in The Living Christmas Trees, the bright light of the truth of Christmas will shine in artistic, entertaining, yet inspirational ways. The music and drama have always been terrific tools for us to pry open the closed heart doors of people who would not normally attend church. Invite them and even give tickets to them.

Next weekend will be an annual reminder for us to get involved or recommit to The Great Commission Connection. Hundreds have prayed for three missionary families per family unit this past year for those with the International Mission Board, the North American Mission Board, and the Florida Baptist Convention or one of our seminaries. We have many new missionaries to adopt. Let’s not let them down.

Though we grieve the death of Karen Head this week, we rejoice in “the door standing open” to Heaven as the Lord said to her on Tuesday, “Come up here” (Revelation 4:1). As Forrest’s beloved wife, she was an open window to see Jesus for so many girls and women. She was a winsome soul-winner, even leading a nurse to Christ this week. Pray for Forrest, Daniel, Benjamin, and Jonathan. Karen will be greatly missed and will always have a prominent place in our hearts.

“An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and bless her; her husband also, and he praises her, saying: ‘Many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all.’

Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”

In this week’s KidzTown Worship, we will be
continuing in our study of the book of Genesis as
we learn about the fall of man. The children will
learn that God hates sin and that sin is anything
that displeases God. We need to be careful to
make good choices and understand that God
has created a plan, through Jesus, whereby we
may be saved. All children in 1st through 4th grade will not want to miss
KidzTown, where we worship the Lord “Kid Style” through songs, fun,
