RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Fall 2018
STUDENT RESEARCH, CSUSM
• Assessed perceptual and physiological responses to Reduced Exertion High Intensity
Training (REHIT)
• 28 subjects performed a VO2max test at baseline and returned one week later to
perform a bout of REHIT.
• Measured RPE, Affect, HR, Blood lactate, and enjoyment score.
• We found no statistically difference in the variables above between the fit and unfit.

FALL 2017
STUDENT RESEARCH, CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY SAN MARCOS
• Cross-sectional study that examined the relationship between sleep quality/quantity and
GPA.
• 100+ survey responses.
• Adhering to the National Sleep Foundation resulted in higher GPA.

SPRING 2016
STUDENT RESEARCH, GROSSMONT COLLEGE
• Assessed thyroid function in laboratory rats before and after introduction of the drug
propylthiouracil, known to cause hypothyroidism.
• 16 weeks, double blinded experiment with 8 experimental rats and 8 control rats.
• Rats were carefully observed every week for changes in size, metabolic rate, behavior,
fur color, and discomfort.
• On the last day of the experiment, all rats were euthanized, dissected, and analyzed for
anatomical differences between experimental and control rats – of special interest were
the thyroid gland and gonads.
• Findings were presented in a research paper at the end of the Spring 2016 semester.
