012400 layer 3 (L3) virtual private networks (VPNs). With this feature,
a router can be logically divided into multiple virtual routers.
Each virtual router works independently and has its own
routing table and interfaces for data forwarding. In this
manner, routes are separated.

WSFD- Enhanced Linux OS SGSN/MME The Enhanced Linux OS Security feature enhances security
012500 Security of the operating system (OS) in terms of services, password
configurations, file permissions, and kernel parameters. The
feature can be applied against hacker attacks without
affecting services. A secure OS is the basic requirement for
the proper running of NEs and legal user operations. An OS
with vulnerabilities is easily attacked by hackers and viruses,
which leads to problems such as the network service
interruptions, information loss, data damage and low running
efficiency. The Linux OS security policies and measures
consist of four aspects: minimization of OS, management of
OS logs, security hardening through stringent password
configurations, file permissions, and kernel parameters, and
security data configuration for interworking between devices.
This feature does not need to be configured.

WSFD- Multiple-PDN MME The Multiple-PDN feature enables a UE to create several

012600 packet data network (PDN) connections for the access to
different networks at the same time.
This feature does not need to be configured.

WSFD- Single IP for S1-MME MME The Single IP for S1-MME feature enables the USN9810 to
012800 connect to a large number of eNodeBs using a small number
of (at least one) IP addresses for service processing.
For details about how to configure this feature, see

a long period of time. The
Super-Charger feature helps to
reduce mobility management
signaling exchanged between
the SGSN and the HLR.
WSFD- PPP Bearer Service SGSN PPP Bearer Service The PPP Bearer Service
210000 feature enables the SGSN to
use PPP as the packet domain
bearer protocol for data
transmission between
subscribers and network access
points. PPP provides
subscribers with improved
support for different types of
network layer protocols, such
as IP/IPX. In addition, this
feature allows mobile
subscribers to terminate PPP
packets on a gateway GPRS
support node (GGSN) or on an
external network node so as to

WSFD- Differential Services SGSN Differential Services The Differential Services
210014 feature enables the USN9810
to provide subscribers with
ARP-based differentiated
services by subscriber priority
or by subscriber range. ARP
stands for allocation/retention
priority.
By subscriber
priority. Carriers
determine
subscriber priorities
according to
subscribers' ARPs.
During network
access, subscribers
with different
priorities correspond
to different network-
load thresholds for
rejecting access
requests, and high-
priority subscribers
take precedence
over low-priority
subscribers. The
SGSN informs the
base station
controller (BSC),
radio network
controller (RNC),
and gateway GPRS
support node
(GGSN) of the
subscribers' ARPs
so that these NEs
provide
differentiated
services accordingly.

WSFD- Roaming Subscriber SGSN Roaming Subscriber QoS The Roaming Subscriber QoS
110650 QoS Restriction Restriction Restriction feature enables the
USN9810 to classify
subscribers based on the
carriers they are registered with
and their roaming status, and
offer differentiated quality of
service (QoS) for different types
of subscribers. Based on the
IMSI, subscribers are classified
into home subscribers and
foreign subscribers. Based on
the home location register
(HLR) number, home
subscribers are classified into
local subscribers and non-local
subscribers. Roaming
subscribers can be non-local
subscribers or foreign
subscribers.
WSFD- 1/N IMEI Check SGSN/MME 1/N IMEI Check With the 1/N IMEI Check
111010 feature, the USN9810 initiates
an international mobile
equipment identity (IMEI) check
only once every N attach
procedures if the IMEI remains
unchanged. This feature
reduces the number of IMEI
checks and lightens the load on
equipment identity registers
(EIRs) while ensuring the
validity of UEs.
POOL
WSFD- Subscriber Migration SGSN Subscriber Migration in The Subscriber Migration in
110000 in SGSN Pool SGSN Pool SGSN Pool feature enables a
number of subscribers to be
migrated from one SGSN to
another SGSN in the same
pool. This helps achieve a load
balance between the pooled
SGSNs. The migration of
subscribers within an SGSN
pool does not affect services.

WSFD- Subscriber Migration SGSN Subscriber Migration in Subscriber Migration in MSC
110001 in MSC Pool Based on MSC Pool Based on Gs Pool Based on Gs enables
Gs users to issue a command to
migrate subscribers from an
unavailable MSC to other MSCs
in the same pool. After the
command is issued, the SGSN
marks the MSC as unavailable
and selects other MSCs for the
affected subscribers to shorten
their service interruption
duration. An MSC becomes
unavailable when it is faulty or
being upgraded.
WSFD- Iu-flex SGSN Iu-flex Iu-flex, termed "Intra-domain
110002 connection of RAN nodes to
multiple CN nodes" in 3GPP TS
23.236, allows a radio access
network (RAN) node to connect
to multiple circuit switched (CS)
or packet switched (PS) core
network (CN) nodes over Iu
interfaces. A UE does not
change its serving CN node
when moving within a pool area
served by multiple CS or PS CN
nodes.
For details about how to

Engineering Implementation.
WSFD- Gb-flex SGSN Gb-flex Gb-flex, termed "Intra-domain
110003 connection of BSC nodes to
multiple CN nodes" in 3GPP TS
23.236, allows a Base Station
Controller (BSC) node to
connect to multiple circuit
switched (CS) or packet
switched (PS) core network
(CN) nodes over Gb interfaces.

WSFD- MME Pool MME MME Pool The MME Pool feature enables
110004 multiple MMEs in a pool to
simultaneously serve a radio
area (MME pool area). The
MMEs in a pool are connected
to all eNodeBs in the pool area.
These connections enable the
pooled MMEs to share
resources and service loads. An
eNodeB determines the MME
that a UE can access based on
the load sharing policy. This
requires that the eNodeB detect
the MME status. If an
unavailable MME is detected,
the eNodeB adjusts the load
sharing policy and assigns new
UEs to available MMEs in the
pool. The eNodeB must also
obtain the load weights of the
MMEs so as to select an MME
accordingly.
WSFD- MME Overload MME MME Overload Control MME Overload Control allows
110005 Control an overloaded MME to send an
Overload Start message to the
eNodeB, which instructs the
eNodeB to reject new
connection setup requests from
UEs. This reduces the
excessive signaling from
affecting the network. When the
MME is no longer overloaded,
the MME sends the eNodeB an
Overload Stop message,
instructing the eNodeB to
resume normal operation
towards this MME. MME
overload control can also be
manually started or stopped.
WSFD- Subscriber Migration MME Subscriber Migration in Subscriber Migration in MME
110006 in MME Pool MME Pool Pool enables carriers to adjust
the load on MMEs in an MME
pool by issuing a subscriber
migration command.
Subscribers can be transferred
from an overloaded MME or an
MME to be upgraded to other
MMEs in the pool. Therefore,
load balancing can be
implemented in real time within
the pool.

WSFD- Multiple HPLMNs SGSN Multiple HPLMNs The Multiple HPLMNs feature
110103 enables the USN9810 to
support public land mobile
networks (PLMNs) of different
network operators
simultaneously. The
geographical coverage of these
PLMNs may overlap or be
independent of each other.
WSFD- Direct Tunnel SGSN Direct Tunnel The 3rd Generation Partnership
110104 Project (3GPP) introduced the
Direct Tunnel solution to reduce
both CAPEX and OPEX and
facilitate network expansion. In
the Direct Tunnel solution, a
single GTP-U tunnel between
the RNC and the GGSN is used
instead of the two user-plane
tunnels used previously. With
this solution, the SGSN does
not need to forward user-plane
data, saving user-plane
resources, reducing costs and
optimizing the user-plane
performance of the PS domain
of the UMTS core network.
WSFD- SS7 over IP SGSN SS7 over IP The SS7 over IP feature allows
110105 the SS7 interfaces of the SGSN
to transmit data over IP
bearers. SS7 interfaces include
Gr, Gs, Gd, Ge, and Gf
interfaces.

WSFD- Gb over IP SGSN Gb over IP The Gb over IP feature enables
110106 the Network Service (NS) layer
within the Gb interface protocol
stack to use the IP network as
its bearer, implementing IP-
based transmission at the NS
layer and layer 1 between a
base station controller (BSC)
and the SGSN.

WSFD- High Speed Signaling SGSN High Speed Signaling The High Speed Signaling Link
110108 Link Link feature enables the USN9810
to bind one signaling link to
multiple timeslots of the E1/T1
line. This feature enhances the
throughput of a single signaling
link and improves the
processing capability of the
Signaling System No.7 (SS7)
signaling link.
WSFD- Multiple Signaling SGSN Multiple Signaling Points The Multiple Signaling Points
110109 Points feature enables carriers to
configure multiple Signaling
System No.7 (SS7) originating
signaling points (OSPs) on the
USN9810 so multiple logical
signaling points can be
allocated to a physical entity.
Each logical signaling point can
be connected to other signaling
points as an independent
signaling point. Multiple OSPs
can be uniformly managed and
can work in load sharing mode
through the Signaling
Connection Control Part
(SCCP) layer.
WSFD- eNodeB SON MME eNodeB SON The eNodeB SON
110111 Configuration Transfer Configuration Transfer Configuration Transfer feature
enables neighboring eNodeBs

WSFD- Diameter Load SGSN/MME Diameter Load Sharing The Diameter Load Sharing
110121 Sharing Based on Based on Weight/Priority Based on Weight/Priority
Weight/Priority feature enables the USN9810
to send Diameter messages to
peer devices preferentially over
the Diameter route with the
highest priority in a route group.
If the highest priority route is
unavailable, the USN9810
selects the Diameter route with
the second highest priority.
Diameter routes with the same
priority are configured with
different weights for load
balancing.
WSFD- Default MSC over SGs MME Default MSC over SGs Default MSC over SGs and Sv
110122 and Sv and Sv is a feature that improves the
success rate of SRVCC and
CSFB services. Without this
feature, if the Sv interface-
based single radio voice call
continuity (SRVCC) is deployed
and some LACs have no
corresponding FQDNs on the
USN9810 or DNS server, the
USN9810 will be unable to
select a target MSC for these
LACs. The result will be an
SRVCC failure. With the Default
MSC over SGs and Sv feature,
the USN9810 assembles an
FQDN with the LAC whose
value is 0xFFFF to reinitiate a
domain name resolution
request to the DNS server and
selects the default MSC, which
increases the SRVCC success
rate.
Similarly, without the Default
MSC over SGs and Sv feature,
if the SGs interface-based
circuit switched fallback (CSFB)
is deployed and some TAIs are
not configured with location
area identities (LAIs), the CSFB
service will fail. With the Default
MSC over SGs and Sv feature,
the USN9810 maps the TAI
whose value is FFFFFFFFFF to
a specified LAI and then maps
the LAI to the default MSC. This
increases the CSFB success
rate.

WSFD- CSFB Emergency Call MME CSFB Emergency Call The CSFB Emergency Call
110712 feature enables preferential
processing of CSFB-based
emergency calls. When an LTE
UE originates a CSFB-based
emergency call after a
combined attach or combined
TAU procedure, the MME
preferentially processes the call
and requests the eNodeB to do
the same. This ensures that the
CSFB-based emergency call is
preferentially processed in the
CS domain even when a related
NE is congested.

WSFD- VIP Voice CSFB MME VIP Voice CSFB The VIP Voice CSFB feature
110706 enables the MME to fall back
LTE UEs that have initiated
enhanced multi-level
precedence and preemption
(eMLPP) services to a GSM or
UMTS network. This GSM or
UMTS network must support
eMLPP. The MME also
prioritizes the attach, fallback,
and paging procedures for
these UEs.
WSFD- Always Reachable MME Always Reachable CSFB When an MME or MSC in a
110707 CSFB CSFB-enabled MME or MSC
pool is faulty, another MME or
MSC in the pool will send
paging requests to eNodeBs to
ensure the successful
processing of mobile-terminated
(MT) calls.
WSFD- CSFB with MSC Pool MME CSFB with MSC Pool The CSFB with MSC Pool
110703 feature implements load sharing
in a mobile switching center
(MSC) pool by migrating UEs
performing circuit switched
fallback (CSFB). This feature
can be used in the following
scenarios:
When an MSC in the
MSC pool is to be
upgraded, the
maintenance
engineer can
execute a UE
migration command.
Then the USN9810
marks the MSC as
unavailable and
migrates UEs from
this MSC to another
MSC in the pool.
If all SGsAP links
between an MSC
and the MME are
faulty, the USN9810
automatically
migrates the UEs.

WSFD- Flash CSFB with RIM MME Flash CSFB with RIM The Flash CSFB with RIM
110704 feature reduces delay in the
circuit switched fallback (CSFB)
procedure. After an LTE UE
attaches to the MME through a
combined attach or combined
tracking area update (TAU)
procedure, it must fall back to
the GSM or UMTS network to
perform circuit switched (CS)
services. This feature enables
the UE to obtain the radio
parameters of the target
network through a RAN
information management (RIM)
procedure, decreasing the
CSFB delay.
WSFD- Multi PLMN CSFB MME Multi PLMN CSFB The Multi PLMN CSFB feature
110705 enables carriers to share
LTE/EPC networks but not
GSM or UMTS networks. PLMN
is short for public land mobile
network. CSFB is short for
circuit switched fallback. EPC is
short for evolved packet core.
This feature allows an LTE UE
initiating CS services to fall
back to a GSM or UMTS
network owned by its serving
carrier, reducing the carrier's
investments.
WSFD- CDMA 1xRTT CSFB MME CDMA 1xRTT CSFB CDMA 1x radio transmission
110799 technology (CDMA 1xRTT, also
referred to as 1xRTT) circuit

voice solution. This feature
uses an existing 1xRTT network
to provide voice services
without introducing an IP
multimedia subsystem (IMS).
When a UE initiates a voice
service, the evolved packet
system (EPS) instructs the UE
to fall back to the 1xRTT
network for processing the
voice service.

WSFD- IMS-based VoLTE MME VoLTE Entry Feature As mobile broadband networks
110708-1 continue to evolve, mobile
broadband has become a
development trend for mobile
voice services that rely heavily
on softswitch. The radio access
network (RAN) is evolving from
GSM/UMTS towards LTE, and
the core network (CN) is
evolving towards the IP
Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).
Huawei has adopted the IMS-
based VoLTE solution, which is
the most popular mobile
broadband voice solution in the
industry. In the IMS-based
VoLTE feature, voice services,
like data services, are
transmitted in the packet

WSFD- Shortest Path Prefer MME VoLTE Entry Feature In an SGSN and MME dual-
110711 Based VoLTE registration network, the
Shortest Path Prefer Based
VoLTE feature allows the SGSN
and MME to record the time
stamp into the context of a UE
each time a radio connection is
established for the UE. When
requested, the SGSN and MME
provide the recorded time
stamps for the HSS so that the
HSS can use the time stamps
to determine the correct
location area (LA) of the UE.
The HSS requests the SGSN
and MME for the time stamps
through a Terminating Access
Domain Selection (T-ADS)
procedure after receiving a
request for the location of a
called UE from the IMS. The
HSS then provides the
determined location area
identity (LAI) for the IMS. The
IMS can then initiate a paging
request to the UE based on the
UE's LAI. This reduces the call
setup delay.
