Session Guide

WAYS TO PREVENT HEALTH PROBLEMS AMONG TEACHERS

Objectives:

1. to identify common health problems among male and female teacher.


2. to increase awareness on preventing health problems among teachers.
3. to identify intervention to avoid/deal with physical and mental health problems among teachers.

Preparation/s Needed

Before the session starts, prepare the necessary materials for the activities.

Time Allotted

3 hours(180 minutes)

1. Activity (35 minutes)

a. Participants will be group to 10 groups. All groups will be given metacards, participants will going to
identify/write five (10) common health problems among male and female teachers (5minutes).
b. All 10 groups of participants will arrange teacher’s health problems from rank 1 to 10, 1as the highest
and 10 as the lowest, paste in a manila paper and will post on the board (30 minutes).

ANALYSIS:

1. What are the legal basis for teacher’s health care?


2. How will teacher cope with physical and mental health problems?

ABSTRACTION:

After the introductory activity, transition to the discussion of the module using the powerpoint presentations. This
module covers the following topics:

1. Republic Act No. 4670 or Magna Carta for Public School Teachers Article IV sec. 22-23 Health Measures and
Injury Benefits
2. Republic Act No. 9710 or Magna Carta for Women section 17 Women’s Right to Health
3. Identify the common health problems among male and female teachers? Physically? Mentally?
4. What are the interventions to avoid/deal with teacher’s physical and mental health problems?
5. Enumerate the prevention tips to avoid health problems among teachers.

APPLICATION:

There is an urgent need to address our nation’s teacher crisis. Teachers have a critical role in children’s lives
and teaching has become one of the most stressful occupations, with alarmingly high rates of job dissatisfaction and
turnover. This escalating crisis is affecting students’ educational outcomes, impacting teachers’ health.
