GOSPEL TEXT: JOHN 13:31 – 33a. 34 – 35
Theme: LOVE AS JESUS LOVES
I. Opening Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, transform our hearts that we may
love as You love us. Teach us to live in the law of love
amid the realities of violence, betrayal and
antagonism. May Your love consume us now an
always. Amen.
II. Key Points
v31 Now is the Son of man glorified, and in him God is
glorified—the glorification of God is realized in the
Jesus’ total self-offering in His passion, death and
resurrection; it is the greatest witness of God’s love;
the glory of God—the PURE LOVE—is witnessed in
the sacrifice of Jesus Christ
v34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love
one another; even as I have loved you, that you also
love one another.—to give witness to the
glorification of God who is love, we have to keep the
new commandment in the covenant of love; it is new
by the very fact that Jesus Himself (the Son of God) is
the standard of love
v35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another.—the identifying
mark of every follower of Christ is the love that is
shared similar to that of Christ; this is concretized
with the act of selfless service and commitment
III. Reflection/Deepening
The Lord Jesus has witnessed in His life especially in
His passion, death, and resurrection the identity of God
as love. It is in Jesus’ act of redemption, in His total self-
giving, that we have seen the glory of God.
As the Lord is risen and lives among us, we are to
witness His living presence through our genuine act of
loving. The love that we have to live is a love that is
similar to the love that Jesus has for us—total and
selfless.
Sometimes we feel that we are ready to love almost
everyone; but in reality we tend to fall into the trap of
being selective in our loving. Hence, we are challenged
to embrace a new way of loving. It is a way which may
be difficult because of the sacrifice that it entails; yet it
is THE WAY that brings the fullness of God’s loving
presence into reality because Jesus, the Son of God, has
witnessed the fullness of this love.
As Jesus’ disciples, we are to follow the Lord’s way of
love and allow His dynamic presence to shine through
our actions of genuine love.

JESUS
I. PASIUNANG PAG-AMPO
Ginoong JesuCristo, bag-oha ang among mga
kasingkasing aron kami mahigugma sama sa
paghigugma Nimo kanamo. Tudloi kami sa balaod sa
gugma taliwala sa kamatuoran sa mga kapintas,
pagluib ug panagbatok. Hinaut pa nga ang Imong
gugma mosanap kanamo karon ug sa kanunay.

II. PUNTO NGA HILISGUTAN
v31”Karon ang Anak sa Tawo gipasidunggan ug ang
Dios gipasidunggan pinaagi Kaniya.” – ang
pagpasidungog sa Dios natuman diha sa kang Jesus
nga paghalad Niya sa tibuok Niyang Kaugalingon
diha sa Iyang kasakit, kamatayon ug pagkabanhaw.
Kini maoy usa ka gamhanang pagsaksi sa gugma sa
Dios; ang kahimayaan sa Dios – ang GUGMANG
LUNSAY- nahisaksihan sa pagpakasakit ni Jesus
Cristo.
v34 Maghatag Ako kaninyog bag-ong sugo:
nga paghigugmaay kamo. Ingon ako nahigugma
kaninyo, paghigugmaay usab kamo.”- aron
pagtestigo sa kahimayaan sa Dios nga Gugma,
kinahanglan atong tumanon ang bag-ong sugo sa
kasabutan sa gugma; kini nabag-o pinasikad sa
kamatuoran nga si Jesus Taglawas gayod(Anak sa
Dios) maoy sumbanan sa gugma.
v35 Kon maghigugmaay kamo, mahibalo ang tanan
nga kamo akong mga tinun-an. Ang ilhanan sa usa
ka sumusunod ni Cristo mao ang gugma nga iyang gipa-
ambit sa uban sama gayod sa gugma ni Crtisto. Kini
mapakita diha sa buhat sa pangalagad nga
makanunayon ug malahutayon.
III. PAMALANDONG /PAGPALAWOM
Ang Ginoong Jesus naghatagsaksi sa Iyang kinabuhi
ilabi na gayod sa Iyang kasakit, kamatayon ug
pagkabanhaw, ang kailhanan sa Dios nga gugma. Diha
sa kang Jesus nga buhat sa pagtubos, sa Iyang tibuok
nga paghatag sa Iyang Kaugalingon atong nakita ang
himaya sa Dios.
Sa pagbangon sa Ginoo gikan sa kamatayon ug
mipuyo uban kanato, kita usab magasaksi sa Iyang
buhing preseyensia pinaagi sa atong tiunay nga
pagminahalay sa usag-usa. Ang gugma nga atong
pagapuy-an maoy gugma nga sama sa gugma ni Jesus
alang kanato – tibuuk ug lunsay ug dili hakogan.
May mga panahon nga kita bation nga andam
gayod kita mahigugma sa tanan natong isig -kaingon;
apan ang kamatuoran kita mahulog sa lit-ag sa
pagpamili kung kinsa lamang ang gusto natong
higugmaon. Busa kita gihagit sa usa ka bag-ong paagi
sa paghigugma. Kini usa ka paagi nga daw malisod
tumanon tungod sa gikinahanglan nga sacripisyo; apan
kini mao ANG DALAN nga magdala kanato sa
katumanan ug kapunoan sa mahigugmaong Preseyensia
sa Dios, tungod kay si Jesus, ang Anak sa Dios,
nagahatag-saksi sa kapunoan sa Iyang gugma.
 Isip mga tinun-an ni Jesus, kinahanglan mosunod kita
sa Dios, sa Iyang pamaagi sa paghigugma ug tugutan
nato nga ang Iyang mapasiugdahong Preseyensia
magadan-ag sa atong mga lihok sa pagpa-ambit ug
tiunay nga paghigugma.

1V. GIYA SA PAGPA-AMBIT :

Pagpa-ambit ug imong kasinati-an mahitungod sa

imong pagpaningkamot sa paghigugma sa uban sama
sa paghigugma ni Jesus.
