 On March 19, 2019, SMP 1 held an outdoor study activity in Jogja. We visited three
places, namely Madukismo Sugar Factory, Mount Merapi Museum, and Jogja Return
Monument.
First of all, at 6:30 we gathered in the school field for departure preparation. At 7:00,
we left SMP 1 by bus. On each bus, there are 4 teachers who accompanied and guided our
trip. We needed 2 hours to travel from Salatiga to Jogja. We arrived in Jogja, precisely at the
Madukismo Sugar Factory at 9:00. There, we were given an explanation of how to make
sugar, then what products were produced by the Madukismo sugar factory, then observed the
sugar-making factory, and many more. There, we met many people, namely employees of the
sugar factory Madukismo, securities, workers, street vendors, and others. We saw many
places and buildings there such as sugar-making factories, halls, warehouses, stalls, and
others. But, I didn't know anyone there except my friends and my teachers. We spent 2 hours
there.
After that, at 11.00 we left the Madukismo Sugar Factory and went to the Museum
of Mount Merapi. It took 1 hour 30 minutes. The distance between the Madukismo Sugar
Factory and the Mount Merapi Museum is around 28 km. We arrived at the Museum of
Mount Merapi at 12:30.
There, we looked around and observed the collections of relics after the eruption of
Mount Merapi. We also watched a video about Mount Merapi. There, we met security guards,
museum employees, and other visitors. I didn't know anyone there except my friends and my
teachers. There, we saw the museum, prayer room, theater room, and much more. We spent 1
hours 50 minutes there.
After that, at 14.20 we left the Museum Gunung Merapi and went to the Jogja
Return Monument. It took 40 minutes . The distance between the Museum Gunung Merapi
and the Jogja Return Monument is around 18 km. We arrived at the Jogja Return Monument
at 15.00.
At the Jogja Return Monument, we are shown a video about how the heroes struggle
to reclaim the city of Jogja which was once captured by the Dutch.
We also toured the museum to see historical relics during the Jogja return struggle, such as
weapons, events that occurred at that time, and much more. There, we saw the museum, stalls,
fish ponds, and also good photo spots! We met with museum employees, street vendors, and
other visitors. I didn't know anyone there except my friends and my teachers. We spent a lot
of time there, about 2 hours 30 minutes. After that, at 5:30 we returned to Salatiga. We arrived
at Salatiga at 20.00.
