Philosophy of Technology

Technology is all around us in the 21st century, cell phones, laptops, computers, TVs,

speakers, and electronics are inevitable to use in our lives. Since there are such new types of

technology that is based towards education, I feel that technology is starting to play a huge role

in how teachers display their information to students. For students that learn visually, the help of

interactive whiteboards, computers, and laptops help with the learning process. In my licensure

area of Early Childhood and Intervention Specialist, technology is so crucial in the way students

communicate in the classroom and parents get communicated back whether that be in class or

through the use of a laptop, computer, or cell phone. I plan to integrate technology into my

lesson plans on a daily basis. With the help of an application called Pear Deck, I am easily able

to use Google Slides to display all the information I need for my lesson plan. By having the

addition of Pear Deck, I can make some slides interactive to where my students can answer

comprehension questions that are multiple choice or short answer. This will be a huge asset in

the classroom to keep the learning on track and making sure everyone is understanding.

With the help of technology, I will better be able to collaborate with my students on their

grades and homework. Computers, laptops, and cell phones make communication with students

much easier through the help of school emails, Google Classroom, and any other messaging

applications. I plan to use the ability to do screencasts to help with students’ abilities that are at a

lower level in respect to other students in the classroom. Districts that have little technology, I
plan to slowly integrate the use of computers and Google tools into the classroom. There will be

other districts with a great deal of technology that I will help with the blending of educational

websites, Google tools, and teacher resources like PLNs. I will definitely use technology like

Google Classroom, GroupMe, Remind, ClassDojo, and other messaging applications to

communicate with parents, students, teachers, and community members. I will use each of these

applications to make sure students know what homework needs to be done, and their parents can

know what homework they need to accomplish along with their behavior in the classroom.

As the future of technology is ever-changing, I plan to keep myself up to date on the

latest Google apps, educational websites, apps, games, and devices. Through the use of different

devices, I can show students how to navigate Google Classroom and all the different tools that

goes along with Google. There will also be the opportunity to use a smartboard to get the whole

class involved together while there could also be time for students to do individual assignments

on their laptops, computers, iPads, or personal devices. Through the various Google tools, I can

promote ethical behavior for my students to keep their work original and not be pressured into

plagiarizing and cheating off of others. If students enjoy or take a liking to a certain application

or tool, they will find themselves wanting to use it more and use their artistic skills to create

works of their own. Overall, technology has a greatly improved the learning and teaching of

class in schools all over the world. With an increasing use of technology everywhere, teachers,

students, parents, and community members are all seeing a change in schools that are up to date

on the latest apps, tools, and devices.
