JASHN-E-TALEEM- One of its Kind Fest

The beginning of the new academic year and the end of the previous
one always strikes a high note in Jamia University which is booming
with inter-university and department-wide fests these days. Amidst
this festive mood in the university, a new name has marked its
presence this year around.
The Post Graduate Education Association of the Department of
Educational Studies, Faculty of Education, aka TTI; took lead first
time in the faculty’s history and organized a two-day educational-
cum-recreational festival with the title “Jashn-E-Taleem:2019”.The
PGEA and its core team members whose untiring efforts made this
fest a reality are Prof. Aejaz Masih; President of the PGEA, Dr Arshad
Ikram; Student Advisor, Vandana; Vice President, Zahra Qazmi;
General Secretary, Azka Rizvi; Joint Secretary, other co-opted
members are Salman Ahmed, Zeba, Mohd. Uzair, Harpreet Kaur. The
fest received instant attention from the participants in various games
as well as visitors from far and across Jamia and other universities
like DU and Jamia Hamdard. The first ever endeavours of the
Department’s PGEA received utmost support from the alumni of the
department Mr Muzammil Akhlaq and Ms Sobia Khan and also
managed to secure sponsorships from a renowned coaching centre
ZEC in Okhla, a popular restaurant Super Supper situated in Okhla
and also a corporate by the name iplayer.

The two-day festival marked its beginning on the 5th March and the
activities for Day-1 of the fest were academic in nature. The fest
began with the opening ceremony which was presided over by the
chief guest Prof.Mohd. Miyan, an eminent academic personality and
ex-VC of MANUU; ex-dean of the host Department. All the faculty
members including the HOD of both the departments of the faculty
graced the occasion. The representative from the Sponsoring
partners was also present to extend mementoes to the chief guest
and faculty members. The felicitations were followed by word of
appreciation and inspiration by the chief guest and department
chairs and the session was wrapped up by the student’s singing
Jamia Tarana.
The fest was kick-started by a debate competition titled “Battle of
Wits” in which various departments from the university participated.
This was followed by “Research ka Ustaad”- a research quiz” in which
multi-stage research methodology questions of various difficulty
levels were asked. Another feature of the day was the Creative
Writing Competition that also received many entries from various
universities. The last competition of the day that attracted a huge
crowd of participants was the “Calligraphy Competition”. The last
event of the day was the Creative writing competition in which about
thirty participants wrote a creative piece on a given topic. Various
food stalls and crafts canopies were arranged in the department
lawns for the participants and visitors and other educational games
were adding to the attractions.

With this, the first day of the fest ended on a high note. All eyes are
set on the last day in which certain music band performances, Rap
performances and a few more competitions like face painting;
educational games and collage making competitions are in store. The
result declaration of these competitions will mark the closing
ceremony. This two-day fest surely looks promising enough to be
organized yearly basis by the Faculty of education.
