INNOACE, Inc.
CDMA, Radio on Fiber for Mobile Internet
SK Telecom SNU R&D Center 3F, San 4-1, Bongcheon-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, Korea
“I want to extend my network into rural areas to fill up coverage
holes, but putting a big BTS out there just isn’t economical. ”
A solution for coverage expansion to minimize capital, real estate, turn-up time and personal
requirements is urgently sought. Roamer traffic represents roughly 10~20 % of a service
providers revenue. Even so, it’s more appropriate and economical to extend coverage to
the edges of your territory with INNOACE’s fiber-optic multi-drop repeater.

Simulcast
The CDMA radio signals are simulcast from multiple repeaters, so there is no hand-off
when user moves between two repeaters
Merits
Simple and inexpensive way to increase coverage : No hand-off
Provide additional diversity against fading : In-building coverage, TX antenna diversity
Small mobile TX power : Long battery life due to nearby antenna, reduce other cell
interference
No additional rental fees by sharing fiber-optic network for multiple operators and
multi-services operation.
Easy add-up new repeaters
“Putting a pico-BTS per building and installing many active
distribution antenna are not economical to expand CDMA in-
building coverage. ”
Current market estimates indicate that as much as 35% of the future market for base
stations may be related to in-building services. In response to market and competitive
pressures, we recommend our cost-effective fiber-optic multi-drop repeater system for
enhancing the service provider’s public system coverage and providing premium private
services to business and institutional customers by extending their coverage into buildings.

The bi-directional passive double star network provides fiber gain, requires only one optical source
for the forward link, and mitigates the frequency requirements of various optical and electrical
components. For the above configuration, the fiber reduction is 3L1+2L2+L3. By installing a 2-
core optical fiber cable, additional 20 % cabling cost could be reduced compared to the installation
of general 12-core optical fiber cable.
