Class: EY2 Date & Duration: 21/3/2019 – 45 mins

Trainee Personal Goals

I am working on classroom and behaviour management and making sure all

students stay on task.

Lesson Focus

Begin to predict, discuss and order outcomes.

Lesson Outcomes

Students will be able to predict amounts by making educated guesses and

estimation.

Links to Prior Learning

- Students recognize the differences in amounts “more or less”.
- Students had an introduction about estimation and prediction.

21st Century Skills

Critical thinking: students will use their critical thinking skills to make predictions
Collaboration: students will be working together to make predictions.
Media literacy: I will use a PowerPoint for my second whole class activity.
Creativity: learning through play each group will have a different game that allows

Differentiation activities (support group):

- Aafiyah, Alreem, Mia, Misha, Elaina will sit on the green table with me.
- We will have a laminated A3 sheet with different sized circles and each
student will have their own prediction sheet.
- First, we will predict how many water drops could fit in the circle, and then
we will experiment to know the actual answer.

Differentiation activities (core group 1):

- Aisha, Georgia, Hamza, and Roy will sit on the round table.
- With the learning assistant they will guess how many skittles/m&m’s is in
each pile.
- They will write their predications on the prediction sheet then count together
to know who is the closest to the actual number.

Differentiation activities (core group 2):

- Fatima, Emir, Dana, Seayule, Talia, Jack, Zac, and Wadeema will sit on the
carpet, they will split into two groups.
- Each group will have gumball machine sheet and gum ball pictures, one with
big gumballs and one with small gumballs.
- They will predict how many gumballs can fit in the gum ball machine and
write down their prediction, then they will fill the machine with the gumballs
to find out the actual numbers.

Differentiation activities (challenge group):

- Mysha, Victoire, Zahra, Mohammed, Madelyn, and Rayan will sit on the
middle table.
- They will have prediction sheets with 3/4 spaces in them, as well as jars with
concrete material (marbles, Legos, counting chips).
- They will write down their prediction then count the material together to
know the actual number.
