Script for Faculty/Student Panel

Marcos: Hello everyone! Thank you for coming to the Getting Involved with Undergraduate
Research faculty/student panel. My name is Marcos Villarreal, I am the Graduate Intern at the
First Year Experience. I am excited to have you all here. Today, we have four esteemed guests
with us, who are going to share their experiences with research and share any advice when it
comes to being an undergraduate researcher.

students what is your major, what research program you are representing, and if you are
currently doing research, what research are you conducting?
[Give each panelist about 2-3 minutes to introduce themselves.]

deciding factors?

M: This question can go to anyone, how do research opportunities in an undergraduate career
affect future opportunities?

M: Now we will take some questions from the audience!

Back up questions:

1. If you were given unlimited access to a money supply, what kind of research would you like to
conduct?
2. What is the best way for students to inquire and get involved in undergraduate research
opportunities on campus?

M: Thank you all again for coming to the Roadrunners on the Rise to Research event! I hope
everyone took something away from today’s session and exhibit. Make sure to complete the
survey on the back of your program so we can learn how to improve this event and I hope
everyone has a fantastic day! If you have any questions please feel free to stay if the panelists are
able.
