ANNEX 3A

REVISED ORIGINAL NARRATION

Catherine Dimaculangan and Henrie Lopez met during their high school days in San Agustin
University in Iloilo City and eventually became sweethearts. After graduating from college, the
two got married on January 17, 1996. Their marriage conceived two sons, Alvin and Simon, born
in 1997 and 2003 respectively.

After the birth of their first son, Henrie started exhibiting abusive behaviour. This abusive
behaviour came in the form of physical, psychological, and sexual. At this point, the abuse was
only limited to the confines of the couple’s bedroom. However, the abuse escalated to the point
in which Henrie had pointed a gun at Alvin. This event took place while Catherine was already
pregnant with Simon.

After the birth of Simon, Henrie began to publicly abuse Catherine by manhandling and cursing
at her; more so when she talks back. In 2003, Henrie started his political career as Governor of
Iloilo, and because of this, it became hard for Catherine to approach authorities due to its
influence on Henrie’s career and their family’s image.

Adding to his already abusive behaviour, Henrie also developed womanizing habits. This was
observed by Catherine when he started bringing his mistress to their conjugal dwelling sometime
in 2015. Despite being aware of this fact, Catherine was not able to do anything about it because
of her husband’s disposition. In October of the same year Catherine was appalled when Henrie
brought home a baby boy. The baby turned out to be Henrie’s illegitimate son who he named
Theodore. Henrie favoured Theodore more than his own legitimate sons. This led to an
altercation within the family; which prompted Catherine to leave the conjugal dwelling and
Simon to blackmail Henrie into giving him money. Alvin, who was then staying in Manila, flew
back home to help his mother move out. As of today, Catherine and Henrie are still married
despite living separately to the former’s dismay.
