I.OBJECTIVES

1. Watch and analyze a short video to better understand the Lesson 2 title “Empathizing with Others.”
2. Identify and name the world famous personalities through their contributions.
3. Analyze a quotation to show understanding of empathy.

4. Relate one’s own experience to the video viewed to define and explain clearly the meaning of the word
EMPATHY.

5. Express one’s feelings and ideas about “Empathizing with Others” through different skills.

B. BEFORE VIEWING
ACTIVITY
1. Activity 1. UNLOCKING DIFFICULTIES
Directions: Students will be instructed to look for the meaning of the word EMPA THY using a dictionary or
their mobile phones. They will then write their answer on a bond paper as fast as they can and be the first to
post their work on the board. Each group will be asked to use the word in their own sentence.

2. Activity 2. WHO ARE THEY?( CDTWL,p.196)


Directions: Match the following famous personalities with their great contribution to the society.
C. VIEWING PROPER
Directions: Students will be viewing a short film about empathy. They will then answer the following
questions for thorough discussion and understanding of the message of the video.

(Group Activity – The class will be divided to 5 groups where each group will be given one question to analyze
with their group mates and then discuss to the class after.)

1. How did the poor boy feel about his pair of damaged slippers?
2. How did he feel about the boy wearing a nice shiny pair of shoes?
3. What motivated the poor boy to help the other boy get his shoe when it was left behind the train?
4. Why did the other boy leave his other pair of shoe to the poor boy?
5. Based on the video, how would you define “Empathizing with Others?” Cite a specific scenario from the
video to prove your point.

1. In your own simple way how can you show empathy to others? Give specific scenario.
2. How necessary is empathy to us in order to achieve human solidarity?
3. Do you think we can show genuine concern without empathy?
4. Explain the meaning of “Empathizing with Others.”

IV. EVALUATION
Directions: Analyze the quotation below in relation to empathy and answer the questions that follow.
