It was Sunday morning December 26th 2004. The day that I would never forget forever. We
went to the beach in Meulaboh, Aceh. Many people were there when I arrived.

When we were enjoying the beautiful sunrise, suddenly we were shocked by a violent shake
in the ground. Everybody in the beach was panic. We soon realized that it was a very big earthquake
although it struck in a very short period of time.

After that, we saw the water going on into the middle of the sea. No wonder if there were

A long time ago. there was an orchard which was owned by a rich couple and filled with the
most delicious tamarind trees. One day, a fairy decided to test the couple's generosity. She came
to the orchard, dressed as a poor, old woman and begged for thecouple to give her a few fruits
since she was very hungry. The selfish couple let their dogs loose on her. The old woman was
bitten by the dogs and badly injured. She touched the giant tamarind tree and cursed, "Your
greed shall be punished.” As the woman walked away, the sky darkened and a ferocious storm
broke out. The down pour continued until late at night.
The next morning, the sky was clear and blue. The couple came to tend their orchard and they
were bewildered to find their entire orchard gone. Instead, there was water everywhere. When
they looked down into the water, they could still see their precious trees at the bottom of the
lake. People call the lake “Sampaloc Lake” which means Tamarind Lake in English.

Jawa Timur Park

For people in East Java, Jatim Park may have been heard many times because it is one of the famous
tourist objects in East Java province. Jatim Park offers a recreation pace as well as a study center.
Jatim Park is located at Jl. Kartika 2 Barn, East Java. The location is easy to reach because it is only
2,5 kilometers from Batu. This tourist object is about 22 hectares in width.

Visitors can enjoy more then 36 kinds of facilities that will entertain and educate them. After passing
the gate, the visitor will find Galvy Nusantara, continue further we will step into Taman Sejarah
which display the miniature size of famous landmark in East Java like Sumberawan Tample, Custom
House of Kiai Hasan Besari Pnorogo and Sumerawan Statue.

Another facility that can be enjoyed is Agro Park. This area has an array of rare crops, fruits and
animal diorama which consist of unique animals that have been con-served. Jatim Park is suitable for
family and school recreation. The recreation area sites offer precious tour as an alternative media of
study.
