Lesson Plan in TVL Home Economics

Senior High School - Housekeeping


Grade 11

I.OBJECTIVES: Given the lesson on the 5S in Housekeeping, the learners shall be able
to:

a. demonstrate understanding of 5S in Housekeeping,

b. apply basic cleaning technique through the use of 5S in Housekeeping; and

c. value the 5S in Housekeeping through application in their real lives.

II. CONTENT STANDARD: 5S in Housekeeping


Learning Competency: UC5 Clean Public Areas, Facilities & Equipment
LO2- Apply basic cleaning technique through 5S in
Housekeeping

Materials: Powerpoint Presentation, kitchen illustration, meta-strips, images.

III. PROCEDURE:
A1. Activity:

a. Review: The learners’ prior knowledge of good Housekeeping will be


activated by the use of the PowerPoint Presentation showing
disorganized/cluttered things in a given area.

b. Motivation:

i. The learners will be shown a video presentation on the methods and


tips to be successful in relation to the 5s in Housekeeping.

ii. The learners will be given time to reflect on the things that needs to be
eliminated/removed may it be in their respective homes or in any place.

iii. The learners will also be asked about their own experiences in applying
5S in their lives.

c. Mechanics:

i. The learners will break down into three groups and each group will be
provided with a kitchen illustration.

ii. Each group of learners will be provided with meta-strips containing
different items or object that they can see in the kitchen for them to
decide where to place that particular item or object in the kitchen.

iii. The learners will closely observe as the teacher guides them in placing
the correct placement of the items or object in the kitchen.

iv. The learners will be asked questions that will strengthen their
understanding of the concept they have just learned.

A2. Analysis:
1. How can the 5S in housekeeping be used in our daily lives?

2. When things are well organized, what will be the result?

3. What is the importance of this 5S in Housekeeping in our daily routine and


work?

4. How are we going to practice the 5S in Housekeeping in our daily life?

A3. Abstraction:

1. Through 5S in Housekeeping, we can prevent errors in looking for a


material when we ought to use them; eliminate wastes and cluttered
objects that are too padding in a given area; prevent accidents
especially for sharp objects when they are not return properly to their
respective areas; and eliminate maintenance breakdowns in our
respective homes or workplace.

2. 5S is a practice of good housekeeping that makes thing well organized,


so the result will be things and objects are easily found every time we
need them because they are organized in their respective placements.

3. 5S of Housekeeping teaches us one important value and that is


discipline, in our daily life and in our work, so discipline is the word that
sums up everything of what 5S in Housekeeping is all about.

4. 5S in Housekeeping can be practice in our daily life through having


discipline within ourselves first. Discipline of how well are we going to
organize our things in our personal room, in our home, in going to
school, and every task that we have in school.

A4. Application:
Through the use of 5S in Housekeeping, the learners will independently create
a list of unwanted or cluttered things that will be eliminated on the boxes that
will be posted on the board.

The learners will be evaluated using the rubrics attached.

V. ASSIGNMENT:

Check the different areas in your house as soon as you arrived home later.
Photograph the areas that needs to be sorted, arranged, cleaned,
standardized and disciplined. After that, apply the 5s in Housekeeping to those
areas. Photograph the areas that are already cleaned. Print and labeled as
“Before” and “After”.
