Risk of injury! Before working on areas which are marked with this symbol, always disconnect mPDS 2000V3 from the power supply.

2.1.3 Maintenance and Service

• Anton Paar process instruments are typically subject to harsh operating conditions such as shock pressure, temperature changes, aggressive samples etc. Therefore drifts or malfunctions are always possible. Check the measuring results continuously and carrry out readjustments if required.

• The results delivered by mPDS 2000V3 not only depend on the correct function of the instrument, but also on various other factors. We therefore recommend to have the results checked (e.g. plausibility tested) by skilled personnel before consequential actions are taken based on the results.

• Service and repair procedures may only be carried out by authorized personnel or by Anton Paar GmbH.

2.1.4 Disposal

• Concerning the disposal of mPDS 2000V3 observe the legal requirements in your country.

2.1.5 Returns

• For repairs send the cleaned mPDS 2000V3 unit to your Anton Paar representative. 3 mPDS 2000V3 - An Overview

The mPDS 2000V3 evaluation unit is a powerful processor and display unit, designed for the continuous density and concentration measurement in industrial processes.

The instrument is equipped with the following inputs and outputs:

• 1 input for an Anton Paar DPR(n), SPR(n), SPRn 2S, DSRn Transducers or DMA 512P/DMA HPM.

• 4 analog inputs (4 to 20 mA) (e.g. Carbo Transducer)

• external product selection inputs (256 products)

• 4 digital inputs

• 2 counter inputs

• 3 analog outputs (4 to 20 mA)

• 2 relay outputs

• 6 digital outputs

• serial interface RS 232 or RS 485

The built-in, powerful standard program calculates the basic properties density, sound velocity and temperature. In addition, a number of specific programs are permanently stored and may be selected by the user.

For 256 products application specific parameters can be stored for:

• temperature compensation

• concentration determination

• alarm limit monitoring

• scaling of the analog outputs

• adjustment of measuring values, etc.

The serial interface can be used for control of the instrument and for data acquisition by an external computer.

Using the optional Profibus adapter mPDS it is possible to connect the mPDS 2000V3 to a PLC via Profibus DP.

6 Operating Instructions E N • RelayMode ="Appl-Spec": The relays are controlled by the selected application

• RelayMode ="Appl-Spec": The relays are controlled by the selected application program. See program description for further details.

• RelayMode ="1Chan2Rel": One measuring result (Channel) is observed by 2 relays. The first relay is combined with the upper limit (HiLimit1) and the second relay with the lower limit (LowLimit1). Relay 1 closes if the assigned measuring value exceeds HiLimit1. Relay 2 closes if the assigned value falls below LoLimit1. The limits HiLimit2 and LowLimit2 are ignored in this mode.

• RelayMode = "2Chan1Rel": Two measuring results (Channels) are observed by 1 relay.

• RelayMode = "1Ch/Error": Relay 1 observes one measuring value, relay 2 is used as error relay. Relay 2 closes when the mPDS is powered up and the transducer is working. When the power fails or in case of "Transd. Drop out" this relay opens. The limits HiLimit2 and LowLimit2 are ignored in this mode.

How to select the relay mode:

6.6.2 Data Assignment

Any of the measuring results (temperature, sound velocity, density, concentration, etc.) of the Standard-Program or the selected application program can be assigned to one of the two alarm channels.
