5.1.2 Inverse time limit overcurrent protection

- 13 -
User manual of HDPL-810C2(C3) Jiangxi Sunyoung Electric Co., Ltd.

Inverse time limit overcurrent protection is when any one phase of the A, B, C phase current is larger
than that of inverse time limit start value, device export according to inverse time limit overcurrent output
matrix.
Inverse time limit overcurrent protection is set by adopting one of the following four criteria
characteristic equations.
0.14
Ordinary inverse time: t p (1)
( I / I p ) 0.02  1
13.5 (2)
Particular inverse time: t p
(I / I p ) 1
Extreme inverse time: t
80
p (3)
(I / I p )2 1
Long inverse time: t
120
p (4)
(I / I p ) 1
In these equations, Ip is the starting current setting of inverse time limit overcurrent protection; τp is
the overcurrent time constant of inverse time limit overcurrent protection.
5.1.3 Zero sequence overcurrent protection with directional locking
Grounding via resistance: zero sequence voltage locking and directional locking are optional, the
sensitive angle is -180°(zero sequence current phase angle lead zero sequence voltage phage angle)
Ungrounding:the zero sequence current is directly collected from the low current signal of the special
zero sequence CT. zero sequence voltage locking and directional locking are optional, the sensitive angle is
90°(zero sequence current phase angle lag zero sequence voltage phase angle)

5.1.4 Overload protection function

The device has a definite time overload protection function. When the line operating current is greater
than the setting current and the time delay is achieved, the protection is acted to overload trip matrix.
5.1.5 Zero sequence over-voltage protection (U0 Overvoltage)
One step definite time zero sequence over-voltage protection is provided. When zero sequence voltage
is greater than the zero sequence setting and the set time delay is achieved, the protection is acted to
zero-sequence over-voltage output matrix.
5.1.6 Under-frequency unloading protection(Under-frequency)
The frequency is derived from software calculation, calculate frequency using voltage UAB. The
unloading protection is blocked by undervoltage block, negative voltage, under-current block or slip(df/dt)
block.

5.1.7 Under-voltage protection

When the bus phase-phase voltage is reduced to the setting value of under-voltage protection and the
breaker is close, the protection is acted after the time delay achieved. If PT broken, low-voltage protection
is blocked.
5.1.8 Three phase once reclosing
The reclosing delay can be set, the whole operation process is completed in a single charge(15s);
There are 2 starting modes for reclosing: non-corresponding start and protection start(overcurrent
protection trip and zero sequence overcurrent protection trip); the software has on/off control words; And
checking no voltage and checking synchronization are optional.
Condition of reclosing block: manual trip, remote controlled trip, underfrequency trip, external input
block, overload trip, undervoltage trip, etc.
After closing the reclosing output for 600ms(and breaker is in the closing position or current >0.5A),
the reclosing output will return.

5.1.9 Post-acceleration
Post-acceleration is started automatically by the manual closing, remote closing or reclosing. when
switching into fault line, accelerate protection trip. Instantaneous, limit-time instantaneous, over-current,
zero sequence overcurrent starting acceleration can be respectively on/off. After closing 10S,
post-acceleration to exit.

5.1.10 synchronization closing

Manual closing, remote closing can select the checking synchronization function. When manual close
or remote close, and synchronization closing function is put in by the control word 2, device will check
synchronization.
Firstly check the bus voltage and extracting voltage UL has no voltage (less than the setting of no
voltage), if any side voltage less than the setting of no voltage, the device allows the closing, or to
- 15 -
User manual of HDPL-810C2(C3) Jiangxi Sunyoung Electric Co., Ltd.

determine whether to allow closing via synchronizing check.

If the bus and line all have voltage, the device must check synchronization. The difference of
frequency, the difference of voltage, the slip(df/dt) are satisfied with the case, check the phase angle
difference. In the synchronization process, system voltage and the line voltage phase angle difference Δδ
and breaker inherent closing time t, leading angle setting values δlead, frequency difference dF, frequency
difference slip ddF, the angle change value δP of in the closing process, relationships are as follows:
P  dF  t  12 ddF  t 2 ,   P   l ead
If the equation is met, the device will close the breaker.
5.1.11 PT Break judgment
1) Sum of three phase voltage is greater than 7V. Any difference of two phase-to-phase voltage is
greater than 18V. It is one phase or two-phase break.
2) Sum of three phase voltage is greater than 7V. The minimum phase-to-phase voltage is less than
18V. It is two-phase break;
3) Three phase-to-phase voltages are all less than 7V. Any phase current is greater than 0.1 times of
rated current and less than the maximum load current. It is three-phase break.
When PT break happens and PT breaking block is put in, under-voltage protection will be blocked.
5.1.12 CT Break judgment
Sum of three phases current is not equal zero (greater than 0.1 times of the rated current). The
minimum phase current is zero (less than 0.1 times of rated current). The maximum phase current is greater
than 0.1 times of rated current and less than the maximum overload current. It is CT break.
5.1.13 Current & voltage phase instructions
Take phase A voltage as benchmark (UA phase equal 0 °). Calculate and indicate each phase of current
and voltage to inspect the wiring of current and voltage at local. When the voltage is V-V wiring mode, take
UAB as benchmark.
