Objective
Students will be able to determine central ideas/information from a secondary source; provide an
accurate timeline that makes clear the relationship among key details and ideas in order to create
a presentation with 90% accuracy.
Materials:
Required book Undocumented: How Immigration Became Illegal
Paper/worksheet
Pencil
computer (Google slides)
Procedure
1. Introduce: Show the book Undocumented: How immigration became Illegal by Aviva
Chomsky and say, “This week we are going to analyze immigration and what it really
Means.” A brief discussion of immigration. Students write predictions of the book on a
separate sheet of paper.
Activities
1. Working in small groups, students discuss their initial predictions and make a timeline of
5 events discussed in the book. In order to create a PowerPoint presentation.

2. Present PowerPoints in small groups to the class of the 5 events that your group thought
to be significant with visuals. (Hands-on)
Evaluation
Teacher checks students' work on the PowerPoint presentation for accuracy
on topic.
