Artifact Description Purpose Dream Home- an introduction of the use of basic
drawing tools emphases on layering and rotation found on computers to create
blueprint of a dream home.
What you learned: How much stuff do you really need? As I was completing this
projected it help me have a lot of self-reflection. I realized that yes it would be
awesome to have a mansion, a castle and apartment in New York on Time Square,
but do I really need that? NO I don’t, it reminded me that happiness doesn’t come
from what you have, but whom you are with. I also learned that I don’t have the
patience for this, I am a perfectionist and it was frustration to me that I couldn’t get
the angles right, or the door frames to look just so. I could see the students in my
class last year doing this, the ones that would excel and the ones that like me would
be come frustrated. Which worries me because the more frustrated they get the less
likely the project will have a positive impact on their self a steam.

Application of Skills Learned for the Future: The funny thing is I did this project
when I was in middle school. We read a story about this family who’s father bought
this giant house, four stories, 18 bedrooms 12 bathrooms, two living rooms, a
kitchen, backyard something like that. The main character a little boy wasn’t to
pleased with this new house he missed his old 2 bedroom one bath house, where all
he had was his imagination. I don’t remember too much else about the story, but we
then had to hand draw our dream house, than make a blueprint on the computer
like we did here. I know this is a lot to remember form a long time, but I think it
stuck with me because for the rest of the year one of the students kept drawing, and
redrawing different house, buildings, parks all sorts of things in blueprint form. It
really inspired him and he went to college to become an architect. It makes me
realize that even the smallest projects, ones used as filler to take up time, or even
projects that I don’t enjoy might spark someone’s interest and motivate them to find
a part of their future self.
