1. SB 163 (Senate Bill 163)

This bill revises the safe use of technology in public schools to ensure the
prohibition of cyber-bullying. In order to ensure that the school environment is
free of cyber-bullying, the school is requiring courses of study in computer
education and technology that is established by the Council to Establish Academic
Standards for Public Schools. Any person is prohibited from harassing a person in
any way related to oral, written, or technology involved method.

2. Chapter 386 – Local Administrative Organization

SCHOOL DISTRICTS

School districts are created, and the Carson City School District should be
considered as a county school district. Each school district has the power to
sue and be sued.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The board of trustees consists of five or seven members. If 1,000 or more

students are enrolled in the school year then there should be seven board of
trustee members. If less than 1,000 pupils, then the number of trustees should
be five. In order to qualify in the board of trustees you must be a qualified
elector, and have the qualifications of residency in the school district in which
they seek election. The candidates will be nominated and elected as provided
by the election laws of the state. The trustee must take an official oath to hold
office until their successor is elected. The board of trustees are to get together
to elect members for certain positions such as president, clerk, and officers.
Meetings should be held at least once a month.

RECYCLING OF MATERIALS; USE OF RECYCLED PRODUCTS

Each school district much recycle paper and/or paper products. The board of
trustees can create rules in relations to recycling products. Any money made
by recycling should be used for the school district fund.
 ENVIORNMENTALLY SENSITIVE CLEANING PRODUCTS FOR
FLOOR SURFACES IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Children can be vulnerable to certain chemicals used to clean floor surfaces.

The Legislature is responsible to reduce the possible expose to children from
hazardous chemicals. The school district must use environmentally sensitive
cleaning and maintenance products.

TRANSPORTATION

The board of trustees must organize to provide transportation for all students
attending a public school. They can also use funds to purchase necessary
equipment needed for repairs, or insuring a vehicle, etc.

SCHOOL UNIFORMS

The board of trustees are allowed to create a policy that require the use of
school uniforms. The policy must be detailed.

MAINTENANCE AND ADMINSTRATION OF AUTO-INJECTABLE

EPINEPHRINE; FOOD ALLERGIES

Each public school must have auto-injectable epinephrine stored at every

school in a secure location if needed. There must be a policy requiring the
proper handling of it. There must be training concerning food allergies and
how to respond to certain situations relating to food allergies.

Dear Yvanna D. Cancela,

 I am writing to you as a student and a future educator at the Clark County School
District. I’ve lived in Las Vegas, Nevada my entire 20 years of life, and have seen
it grow and be renovated with new attractions to reel more tourists. As good as
that is for our economy, the tax payer money is being used to build stadiums,
casinos, and other attractions instead of being put where it’s really needed, which
is the education system.

Our education system suffers from bad teacher to student ratio, low budget
funds, and more. Teachers often have to put in their own money to buy
supplies for students, even though teachers already don’t get paid what they
deserve. Instead of using all the taxpayer’s money to continue to expand an already
successful tourist empire, please consider focusing on the school district to help better
the future of the kids.
I hope you consider focusing more on the education system to make an impact
to the future generation.
