Everyone has a right, not only me but also you, you, and including everyone on this room,

right?

But, what about the rights which got violate?

Ladies and Gentleman,

Right of someone is not supposed to violated by whoever it is, including government, closest
friends, or anybody.

So, what is human rights ?

The honorable Adjudicators

The honorable Audience

And Good afternoon Ladies & Gentlemen

Firstly, Let me introduce my self, my name is Surya Triosla from SMA N 2 Kota Bengkulu.
And thank you for the time & the chance that is given to me, so i can stand here to deliver my
speech, entitled We Are All Equal

Ladies and Gentlemen,

There are two kinds of Human rights, they are :

1. Human Rights, are inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of
residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, colour, language or any other status.
2. And Universal Human Rights, are often expressed and guaranted by law, in the forms
of treaties, customary international law, general principle and other sources of
international law.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Back to the problem about those rights which got violate. In fact, the kind of its problem that
exist right now is a huge. Start from little case of human rights, like banned argued in public,
till a big conflict, like conflict of Israel and Palestine, Isis and Suriah, and others.

But one conflict that very attract me is about Rohingya conflict. Have you ever heard about
that conflict?
I’m sure all of you’ve heard about it, but only knew by the name. That conflict is about
Rohingya people, just like the conflict name. So, who are Rohingyas ?

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The United Nations describes Rohingya as a religious and linguistic minority from western
Myanmar. It says the Rohingya are one of the most persecuted minorities in the
world.Historically, the Rakhine majority has resented the presence of Rohingyas, who they
view as Muslim people from another country. The Rohingya, on the other hand, feel they are
part of Myanmar and claim persecution by the state. But the state claimed that they didnt
violate the Rohingiya’s rights.

In January 2014, the UN said that more than 40 Rohingya men, women and children were
killed in Rakhine state in violence that flared after accusations that Rohingyas killed a
Rakhine policeman.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In my opinion the wrong side is Myanmar government, because the authorities failed to act
swiftly and assertively.More importantly, they also taking part in violate the Rohingya’s
rights.

They have resorted to declaring states of emergency and night-time curfews in some
instances but they have been unable to prevent incidents from breaking out in the first place.

Human Rights Watch said that although state forces did intervene to protect fleeing Muslims,
more often they fuelled unrest either by standing by or taking part in violence. And Rohingya
conflict until now have not been resolved.

So, Ladies and Gentlemen,

We as Indonesian, and importantly as a fellow human. We are all equally to our Human
Rights without discrimination. These rights are all interrelated, interdependent and
indivisible. Because, human rights is adhere since borned, and cant be interfered by anyone
else. And if you ask me, about what the solution is ?

What i’ll do is to suppress Myanmar’s government to give citizenship, economy and a proper
life for the Rohingya minority. By utilizing organizations like United Nation, UNCHR,
ASEAN and international laws which valid toward every member country, concerning it can
effect the connection between countries, also with exploiting the relation between Indonesia
and Myanmar. Because when those relation is disturbed, then it can give a bad impact to
Myanmar.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Martin Luther King ever said,

“I have a dream that one day all of the country around the world will rise up and live out the
true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created
equal”.

Thanks a lot for your attention, good afternoon
