Claim – Evidence – Reasoning Claim – A claim is a statement the author believes to be true that answers 
an essential question or hypothesis.

Evidence – Evidence is a set of facts, findings, or observations that support the claim the author makes.

Reasoning – A reasoning statement combines the author’s claim to the evidence provided. It makes the 
connection between the claim and the evidence logically and without emotion or opinion. It is a minimum 
of a full paragraph long, it contains a topic sentence, at least three supporting sentences that evaluate the 
evidence, and a conclusion.

Claim
Write the author’s proposed claim below:  
The presence of women in its decision making body has increased the public perception of the 
body's legitimacy even when the group has to make a decision that impacts women. 
 

Evidence
Give three pieces of evidence provided by the author that supports the claim. Use complete 
sentences.
1. The public what's more likely to see the decision negatively affecting woman as fair when it 
came to a gender- committee. Rather then when it was made by an all-male committee. 
 
2. People were then given a survey about how much they trusted the committee to make a fair 
decision the gender-balanced was substantially increased when the all-male committee made the 
decision. there was more anti-feminist when the male committee made the decision however this 
does not mean there wasn't any when it was a gender balance committee.
 
3. Both the Democrats and Republicans have more faith when it came to the gender balance 
committee which should say something.

So in order to answer my claim which was The presence of women in its decision making body 
has increased the public perception of the body's legitimacy even when the group has to make a 
decision that impacts women. it was found that the news was taken more thoughtfully when the 
gender balance committee gave it. people have been found to have more faith in a decision when 
it was made with a gender balance committee. so in the public had more face when it came to the 
gender balance committee.
