These students may not be able to perform as well in class due to their minds being astray, focused
on their own personal safety.

Monitoring students and making sure that there aren't overt signs of mistreatment.

● How has your perception of diverse learners grown/changed from your perspective as a student?
It shocked me that one in five students report being bullied, being 20% of students being victimised by school
violence.

● What does this mean for you as a future teacher by reflection on Colorado Department of Education,
Colorado Teacher Quality Standard II: ​ Teachers establish a safe, inclusive and respectful learning
environment for a diverse population of students?
As a future teacher, I need to be aware of the possible warning signs that a student is a victim of school
violence in order to be able to protect these students or prevent future school violence.
