(b) In what way is the Workshop expected to contribute to the existing knowledge in
the field?

Communicable diseases are caused by microorganisms such as bacteria,

viruses, parasites and fungi that can be spread, directly or indirectly, from one
person to another. Now a day, swine flu is one of the communicable diseases that
spread very fast and kill many people in and around India. In the year 2017 as per
the media reports more than 22,000 cases has been reported across India. It can be
easily curable if it is diagnosed in earlier stage.
We can predict the disease using Big data analytics with enormous data
available on tweets, survey reports, news etc. Google Flu Trends (GFT) has
generated significant hope that “big data” can be an effective tool for estimating
flu disease and cause of the spread. Large errors in flu prediction were largely
avoidable, which offers lessons for the use of big data. So the results provide
awareness on symptoms, areas, weather conditions etc. Based on the above results
more awareness will be provided and the death rate will be reduced.
The objective of this workshop is to create awareness among the teaching
community and students about commonly occur communicable diseases and
causes of such like Swine flu. The workshop also covers how to diagnose at the
early stage using big data analytics and its treatments .
