Yakqueline Mendoza

I am a United States Army active duty soldier. My military occupation specialty is

Combat Engineer, basically I conduct operations such as route clearances, room breaching, and
obstacle clearance/construction under fire with front line troops like the Infantry on a daily basis
while deployed to combat zones. I have been in the United States Army for 1 year now and have
had the distinct pleasure to have served with some of America’s best. Soon to be Private
Yakqueline Mendoza is one of America’s best and I would like to write this recommendation on
her behalf.

I have had the pleasure of working with Yakqueline Mendoza since 2018 of my senior
year there at El Capitan, when I first met Yakqueline she told me that she wanted to reach
beyond the sky first and foremost, and she wanted to serve her country. Mendoza is a young
woman from Merced California, she is about to graduate from El Capitan High School in June.
During her time at El Capitan High Mendoza participated on the Track and Field team she
competes in multiple events to include shot put, and discs. Mendoza has also proven to be a
fantastic artist as of matter of fact she has turned down multiple scholarship offers at various
colleges to pursue her United States Army Career which is a testament to the character of
Yakqueline.

For the past year, I have commenced combative training and have deployed to Korea to
continue my training, sharpening my skills as a Combat Engineers and I have worked with many
other soldiers of the same talent and field of operation, my company consists of 157 soldiers and
there is not one of them who I would more willingly trust my life to other than Yakqueline
Mendoza.

Soon to be Private Mendoza chose to become a Dog Handler for the United States Army
and I have no doubt that she will be successful at whatever she puts her mind to and I know that I
will have the pleasure to one day work side by side with her on the front lines.

Based on my experience Yakqueline Mendoza would be an outstanding candidate for any

position, job, task or any challenge. Her willingness to put others before herself and her undying
determination to accomplish any task will make her successful not just in the Army but in life.
