an versus Chiang Rai blend. This is the guide to Bang-
kok you’ve been waiting for. Just feel that lovely matte-finish
paper between your fingertips. Go on, rub it on your face,
smell the ink. We know you want to.
OK, now time to pay attention. We, like you, know there’s
no better way to spend a weekend than sitting in front of a
perfect plate of eggs Benedict, a toppling stack of souffle pan-
cakes, or a good mountain of smashed-avo on toast—prefer-
ably with a stiff bloody Mary close at hand. And that’s what
Cafe Society’s all about: daytime friendly bistros, indepen-
dent coffee shops, tucked-away brunch spots and the odd
dessert specialist, too.
It’s the second year we’ve put together Cafe Society, and
like before, we’ve organized it by neighborhood. Keep this
trusty little pocket-sized companion with you and we can
guarantee you’ll never be far from a slow-bar, a strong Wi-
Fi signal or a Joe Sloane sausage on house-baked sourdough.

The owners of this artsy cafe personally source their

Inside this store’s quaint, wood paneled facade,
you’ll find the most charming branch of Bangkok’s
top aromatic products brand. Going beyond home
and body fragrances, this space doubles as a coffee

cold lattes are the orders of the day. The shop also
sells tableware, pillows, napkins, bags and T-shirts

ing their own cafe last year. Sourcing beans both
locally and internationally, they not only produce

your meal amid gray marble countertops, white hon-

With its white marble counter, chrome coffee ma-
chines, light woods and hints of blue, this cafe brims
with Scandinavian style. Serving up Instagram-wor-
thy drinks, like their Jaffa Cold Brew with dark choc-
olate and orange, and a simple menu boasting one
of the best eggs Benedicts in Bangkok, this is a great
place to park up for the morning—or even an after-

has opened another joint right beside BTS Surasak.

style, with wood and concrete offset by warm lighting.

The people behind one of the
busiest cafes in Singapore have
brought their coffee roasting to the
garden of Thai restaurant Kram.
Taking over two shipping contain-
ers separated by a metal staircase,
Sarnies is split into a coffee roast-
ing zone with an industrial-grade
roaster, and a stylishly minimal,
eight-seater coffee bar. This cafe
puts a lot of stock into perfecting
its roast profiles, all in view of the
customers.

fee then this is the spot for you. Using a mix of local

Tribes Cafe is part of Tribes, a metal-clad

building serving as a community space for
innovation, arts, learning and a wide variety
of creative activities. It is located in a quiet

The space was created in the belief that a
cafe is a great place for people to connect
and spark new ideas, and that a conversation

their coffee, the owner roasts the selected
coffee beans on-site, one small batch at a
time, while the barista carefully measures
and brews each cup of coffee with a custom
lever-powered espresso machine. All of this

Invisible Coffee Room Kuppa

A former architect put into practice all he’d learned
from barista courses in Korea and certification from
the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe at this
crisp, clean cube of a cafe without any official sig-
nage (spot the tagline: “delicious is invisible”). From
a coffee bar awash with natural light, they pour
lattes and flat whites made using beans from Thai-
land, Guatemala and Brazil.

Almost 20 years old, this brunch mainstay  re-
mains  much the same as always, its dining room
made for lounging around and its menu packed
with  salads, scrumptious  stone-baked pizza  and

tisserie grounds of Angelina and Laduree,  pastry
chef Carol Boosaba opened this little white and blue
number  in Asoke. Sticking largely to French tradi-
tion, she bakes in limited supplies using seasonal in-
gredients. The St. Honore (a pile of creamy choux),
tarte au chocolat and good ol’  Parisian croissant

Taking over a three-story house and garden
with pastel colors and charming vintage clutter,
this cafe has more than a hint of Mad Hatter’s
tea party about it. The frilly clothes and accesso-
ries on sale at the attached Chuanpisamai Bride
store recall the place’s origins as a vintage trea-
sure trove at Chatuchak Market, but there’s little
dainty about the menu’s heart Japanese curries,
piled-high pancakes and Oreo-topped Nutella
freakshakes.
