Global Gender • It was introduced in 2006 as a

• The Report benchmarks 149
countries on their progress towards
gender parity across four thematic
dimensions: Economic Participation
and Opportunity, Educational
Attainment, Health and Survival,
and Political Empowerment.
• In 2018, India recorded
improvements in wage equality for
similar work and fully closed its
tertiary education gap for the first
time, but progress lags on health
and survival, remaining the world’s
least improved country on this sub-
index over the past decade.
