SPELL-IT-RIGHT

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The English Language Society with the help of ETA has organized Spell It Right
Competition. The event is conducted to motivate the community to read more often,
promote and expose to variety types of books, to encourage the children to join the
prepared activities, to showcase their talents and to gain confidence.

One of the activities that will be carried out is Spell-It-Right on the 17th April 2019 at
1 P.M. This activity will be conducted completely in English for the children’s to be
proficient in the particular language and to be able to communicate in English.

2.0 RATIONALE
This event is intended to help children’s to be more confident to speak in English and
to give them exposure to different kind of words and the correct way to spell it. In
addition, this will help them to undergo their English Language class in school and to
help them understand and learn a new word.

3.0 OBJECTIVES
3.1 To promote library activities and cultural information to the community.
3.2 To raise the awareness of the importance of reading.
3.3 To increase the communication skills.
3.4 To showcase the talents of the participants.

6.0 ORGANISER
The event is organised by ETA with the help of English Language Societies.

7.0 THE ACTIVITY


The Spell-It-Right activity is carried out with possibly 24 participants.

7.1 Methods of Implementation


1. Firstly, all the 20 participants will be called on stage and they will introduce
themselves.
2. Secondly, the game will be introduced to the participants as well as the rules
and regulation of the game.
3. The first round, the 20 participants will compete with each other.
4. After that, the best 10 participants will be chosen for the second round.
5. The second round, the 10 chosen participants will compete with each other
and the best 6 will be chosen for the third round.
6. The third round which is the elimination round, 6 chosen participants will
compete with each other until there is only 3 more participant left.
7. In the final round which is the battle round, 3 final participants will compete
with each other until one by one loses and finally the champion, 2nd runner up
and the 3rd runner up will be chosen accordingly to the elimination of the
battle round.
7.2 First Round
1. The 20 participants will have 5 words to spell and 10 will be eliminated
from the first round according to the mistakes they make.
2. Finally, only 10 participants will be chosen to the second round.

7.3 Second Round


1. The 10 chosen participants will compete with each other and 4 will be
eliminated from the second round.
2. Finally, only 6 will be move to the third round, the elimination round.

7.4 Third Round “Elimination Round”


1. The elimination round, the top 6 will compete with each other and 3 will
be eliminated according to the inaccuracy that they commit.
2. Finally, only 3 will be picked out to the final round.

7.5 Final Round “Battle Round”


1. The final round the top 3 will compete and one by one will be eliminated
according to the fallacy that they execute and the champion, 2nd runner up and
the 3rd runner up will be chosen accordingly.
2. The lesser mistake, the participant will make it to be the champion.

8.0 Rules and Regulation


 No electronic devices can be used.
 If there is any confusion, the participants are allowed to ask question.
 The other participants should be as quiet as possible when the other
participants are participating.
 The judges’ decisions are the final decision.
 There will only be top 3 winners.

10.0 CONCLUSION
This activity is to encourage student to not be afraid to communication in English
and to build their confidence to interact with each other in English as the channel.
