Definition of must and have to


in a sentence, "must and" have to "is a part that is quite important and often we use in
everyday life. if translated into Indonesian, the two words have the same meaning that is
'must'. however, when pronounced in English, both have different meanings.

 Must;
'must' is used when you want to show that something that is meant is true and
logical. For example: in the winter, people will feel cold. In addition, 'must' can
be used to show obligations that are so strong or obligations required according
to yourself and those around you.

 Have to:

'Have to' is used to express strong obligations because there is interference from
outside parties that make these obligations.
2.The difference of ‘must’ and ‘have to’

1.Must is the requirement that appears on awareness of yourself or it regulated by


regulation / law.
Example: a.You must come and visit
b. I must talk to
c. I must use seat belt

Have To is a must because there are external factors and if it is not done then there is
an effect.
Example: a. She has to visit the doctor every two weeks.
b. My train is coming. I have to go now
c. He does not have to give extra money to Gojek driver

2. Must have no past and future forms, while having to have

must have no past and future forms. We cannot, for example, write it like this:

a. Yesterday I musted drive to Medan

b. Tomorrow I will must drive to Medan

Whereas have to have past and future forms, which are had to and shall have to or will have
to, for example with the example sentence below:

a. Yesterday I had to drive to Medan

b. Tomorrow I will have to drive to Medan

3. Must Can Be Used For Conclusions / Assumptions, While Have To Cannot

'You must be Winda. My friend has told me so much about you.'

‘You have to Winda. My friend has told me so much about you.


3.Example of ‘must’ and ‘have to’

1.must:
* a. She must drink because the weather is very hot.
b. You got the good mark in the exams. Your parents must be happy to hear that.

c. You must use the umbrella to go to school because it was rainy.

*a . We must get up in the morning.


b. She must invite her parents in Lampung.

c. He must practice well to win this competition.

2.Have To:
a. We have to eat this meal or my mother will be angry.

b. I have to finish my articles because the deadline is coming.

c. You have to sing well or we will disappointment with you.


Conclusion:
So,must and have to is a part of chapital which means a group of auxiliary words that are
part of the auxiliary which gives additional meaning to a sentence.

If translated into indonesian,both words have the same meaning.”however,if written or


spoken in english,both of them have different meanings.
