Penitential Rite
Brethren (brothers and sisters), let us acknowledge our sins, and so
prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

I confess to almighty God

and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore, I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.

May almighty God have mercy on us,

forgive us our sins,
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
Kyrie (said)
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Christ, have mercy.

Christ, have mercy.

Lord, have mercy.

Lord, have mercy.

Gloria
Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to people of good will.
We praise you,
we bless you,
we adore you,
we glorify you,
we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King,
O God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,
you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world,
receive our prayer;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father,
have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father.
Amen.
COLLECT
Let us pray.
Draw near to your servants, O Lord,
and answer their prayers with unceasing kindness,
that, for those who glory in you as their Creator and guide,
you may restore what you have created
and keep safe what you have restored.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

THE LITURGY OF THE WORD

First Reading
A reading from the prophet Ezekiel
The word of the Lord was addressed to me as follows, “Son of man, I have
appointed you as sentry to the House of Israel. When you hear a word from
my mouth, warn them in my name. If I say to a wicked man: Wicked wretch,
you are to die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked man to renounce
his ways, then he shall die for his sin, but I will hold you responsible for his
death. If however you do warn a wicked man to renounce his ways and
repent, and he does not repent, then he shall die for his sin, but you
yourself will have saved your life

The Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm
(R) O that today you would listen to his voice! Harden not your
hearts.

1. Come, ring out our joy to the Lord;

hail the rock who saves us.
Let us come before him, giving thanks,
with songs let us hail the Lord. (R)

2. Come in: let us bow and bend low;

let us kneel before the God who made us
for he is our God and we
the people who belong to his pasture
the flock that is led by his hand. (R)

3. O that today you would listen to his voice!

‘Harden not your hearts as at Meribah,
as on that day at Massah in the desert.
when your fathers put me to the test;
when they tried me, though they saw my work.’ ( R )

Second Reading
A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to the Romans

Avoid getting into debt, except the debt of mutual love. If you love your
fellow men you have carried out your obligations. All the commandments:
You shall not commit adultery, you shall not kill, you shall not steal, you
shall not covert, and so on, are summed up in this single command: You
must love your neighbour as yourself. Love is the one thing that cannot
hurt your neighbour: that is why it is the answer to every one of the
commandments.

The word of the Lord.

Gospel Acclamation

Alleluia, alleluia!
God was in Christ, to reconcile the world to himself;
And the Good News of reconciliation he has entrusted to us.
Alleluia
Gospel

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke 14:25-33

The Cost of Discipleship

Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them, “If
anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and
wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he
cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come
after me cannot be my disciple. For which of you, desiring to build a
tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough
to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able
to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to
build and was not able to finish.’ Or what king, going out to encounter
another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is
able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty
thousand? And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a
delegation and asks for terms of peace. So therefore, any one of you who
does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.
The Gospel of the Lord.

Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer over the Offerings

Pray, brethren
that my sacrifice and yours
may be acceptable to God,
the almighty Father.

May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands

for the praise and glory of his name,
for our good
and the good of all his holy Church.

the Holy Spirit may reveal to us more abundantly
the hidden mystery of this sacrifice
and graciously lead us into all truth.

Preface

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right and just.

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
For, bringing your Paschal Mystery to completion,
you bestowed the Holy Spirit today
on those you made your adopted children
by uniting them to your Only Begotten Son.
This same Spirit, as the Church came to birth,
opened to all peoples the knowledge of God
and brought together the many languages of the earth
in profession of the one faith.
Therefore, overcome with paschal joy,
every land, every people exults in your praise
and even the heavenly Powers, with the angelic hosts,
sing together the unending hymn of your glory,
as they acclaim:

Holy, Holy, Holy (Sung)

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

Memorial Acclamation (Sung)

Amen. (Sung)
Communion Rite
Lord's Prayer (Sung)

At the Saviour’s command and formed by divine teaching,

we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil,

graciously grant peace in our days,
that, by the help of your mercy,
we may be always free from sin
and safe from all distress,
as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

For the kingdom,

the power and the glory are yours
now and for ever.

Sign of Peace
Lord Jesus Christ,
who said to your Apostles:
Peace I leave you, my peace I give you,
look not on our sins,
but on the faith of your Church,
and graciously grant her peace and unity
in accordance with your will.
Who live and reign for ever and ever.
Amen.
