Part 1: A critical evaluation of the styles of leadership and


management in Apple Inc.
[Part 1: A critical evaluation of the styles of leadership and management within
the organisation (main and sub characters), underpinned with appropriate
theoretical perspectives theories
 Approximately 1000-1200 words
 Students should propose a leadership style (or styles?) which is exhibited by
the main character within the film and at least 2 other sub-characters
 Students should underpin the validity of their claim with appropriate evidence,
including:
o theory and professional reference sources
o examples of discounted leadership styles
o examples from the film of specific interactions)
 The student should provide a convincing justification in defence of their claim,
higher grades will be awarded on this basis, rather than the claim itself.]

Part 2: An evaluation of the leadership styles used in Apple

[Part 2: Evaluation of whether the leadership styles exhibited were relevant


within the organisation
 Approximately 1000 words
 Students should consider the relationship between the leader and other
characters (the 2 sub-characters discussed earlier and other background
characters within the film)
 . When considering the relationship, they should refer to aspects of:
o Followership
o Contemporary research and literature on the leadership which could
include kindness and generous leaders (CMI); Workplace happiness
(CMI); Good governance (IoD), positive and contagious leadership
(ILM) and trust (CIPD)
o And leadership competencies

o Higher grades will be awarded to those students who can make
connections and draw comparisons across various theoretical models
and perspectives
 Students should draw conclusions based on the above discussion on whether
the leadership style and behaviours were relevant (e.g. appropriate to the
time period and circumstance/context)]

Part 3: Leadership development intervention


[Part 3: A proposal of an appropriate leadership development intervention
which could be implemented to drive change and continue to improve and
develop leadership (main and sub characters)
 Approximately 700 – 1000 words
 Students should propose and justify at least 1 area of competence that could
be developed in the main and 2 sub-characters – this should relate to the
conclusions drawn in the previous sections
 Students should propose and justify a specific development intervention
which would be appropriate. They must be mindful of the nature of the
character and ensure that their proposal is fit for purpose]
