JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title : Accountant Revenue

Department : Finance

Reports to : Management Accountant

Main purpose of post : To plan and control the collection of contributions


from employers and maintain accurate records of the
same.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Degree in Accountancy, ACCA, CIMA CIPFA or similar qualification with adequate


knowledge of computerized accounting system and five years’ experience.

KEY OUTPUTS OF POST

OUTPUT : Processed contributions

DEFINITION : To ensure that contributions are received in time from all collection
centres and all money deposited with banks.

OUTPUT : Updated and maintained account records

DEFINITION : To ensure that data pertaining to members’ contribution is


processed in time in order to update the employers/members
personal accounts.

OUTPUT : Balanced payment accounts

DEFINITION : To check and obtain daily balances at Bank of Zambia and ensure
that level of bank balances are adequate to meet payment of
benefits.

OUTPUT : Resolved banking problems

DEFINITION : To liase with commercial Banks on matters relating to bank


charges, delays and transfers of contributions from Region and
Districts.
OUTPUT : Financial policy advice to regions

DEFINITION : To advise regional offices on income collection policy guidelines


from time to time.

OUTPUT : Reconciled overpayments

DEFINITION : To pay refunds to employers for overpayments and make


adjustments to both employers and member records.

OUTPUT : Reconciliation

DEFINITION : To ensure reconciliation of income collected on monthly basis


against deposits and transfers from regions.

OUTPUT : Monthly accounts (draft stage)

DEFINITION : To supervise and ensure vetting, processing both receipts and


returns up to data preparation stage.

OUTPUT : Management reports

DEFINITION : To prepare management information reports on the following


monthly contribution income received, monthly benefits paid, state
of receipts/returns holding files, state of the suspense account file.

OUTPUT : Maintained systems

DEFINITION : To monitor computer systems to ensure that computer programmes


are amended in line with Fund information system.

OUTPUT : Developed systems

DEFINITION : To work with Systems Analyst in developing new systems to meet


the information requirements of the Fund as far as contributions are
concerned.

OUTPUT : Annual accounts

DEFINITION : To ensure timely preparation of Funds Annual Accounts and


prepare budgets for accounts fund.
