Employees 
UD Adoption Reimbursement 
 
The University will pay to eligible employees one-half of qualified legal adoption 
expenses, up to a maximum of $5,000 per family per adoption. Qualified expenses 
include reasonable and necessary adoption fees, court costs, attorney fees and other 
related legal expenses. This benefit is effective once the adoption is finalized. Some or 
all of the reimbursement may be considered taxable income. Please check with your tax 
advisor. For more information, please refer to your employee handbook.

Emergency Loan Program 


 
Una Cadegan, a 2005 Lackner Award winner, graciously donated her monetary award to 
be used as an emergency fund for employees who find themselves in need. 
 
An interest-free loan not to exceed $500 may be granted to any University of Dayton full- 
or part-time benefits eligible employee whose hourly rate does not exceed $14.25 per 
hour. An application for the emergency loan program can be found on the Forms page. 
 
Employee Assistance Program 
 
To help you find a healthy balance between your work and personal life, University of 
Dayton provides you and your immediate family with access to LifeWorks® - a free 
employee resource program to help make your life a little easier. 
 
LifeWorks® is fast, easy to use, and completely confidential. It’s available at no cost to 
you. And best of all, it’s there for you any time of the day or night, wherever you are. The 
program can give you support, advice and information on a wide range of personal 
issues. The website, www.lifeworks.com, provides valuable information for things we 
all deal with throughout our lives and the lives of those we care about. The user id is 
university and the password is dayton. For more information, please refer to the

Events 
 
Ongoing--Montgomery County Children Services' recruitment van travels to Dayton-area 
events to provide information about the need for foster and adoptive parents. If you 
would like more information or to have the van at your next event, contact Dale 
Richardson at (937) 224-KIDS.

Training 
 
Ongoing--Preservice training for Ohio foster and adoptive caregivers. See the Ohio Child 
Welfare Training Program website for details. 
 
Meetings 
 
Various dates each month -- Independent neighborhood support groups run by and for 
foster, adoptive and kinship parents and caregivers are currently meeting in five 
different areas of Cincinnati and its suburbs. Additional neighborhood groups will be 
formed if sufficient interest is generated. Current foster license or recent involvement 
with the system is not required. For additional information, please contact Sherrie

3rd Monday of every month -- FAST: Foster Adoption Support Team will be meeting at 7 
p.m. at the Butler County CSB Building at 300 North Fair Avenue in Hamilton, OH. Drinks 
and snacks are provided. Babysitting is provided for Butler County children. Call ahead 
to reserve a spot for your child/children: 726-6642, ask for Tracy. For more information,

2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month-- The Butler County Children Services Board will 
host Information Meetings for prospective foster and adoptive families. The meetings 
will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at BCCSB headquarters at 300 North Fair 
Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45011. For additional information, please call (513) 887-4055 or
