CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

These classroom management strategies were introduced to the reading program

students to promote order and good behavior inside the classroom and also, to maximize
the learning time allotted daily.

ROUTINES

The attendance of all readers-to-be are

monitored through multi-colored popsicle
sticks. They must transfer their own
popsicle stick from the “Readers” Cup to
the “Present” Cup upon entry to the
Reading Center.

Attendance Cup

Aside from being an attention-getter, claps

are used to welcome the kids at the start of
the session (Good Morning Clap) and to
bid them goodbye (Good Job clap) before
they leave the Reading Center. Students
are also encouraged to come up with their
own claps.

Entrance and Exit Claps

Mindfulness exercises are done to calm

down students and to bring their focus to
the reading session ahead.

Mindfulness Exercises
The Reading Teacher and students say the
class chant together with actions. This
serves as a reminder of what they can be
and will be in the future.

Class Chant

The teacher counts from 1 to 5 and the

students respond through actions.
The Five
“I Am Ready” 1- Arms up
Positions 2- Arms Down
3- Sit properly
4- Quiet
5- Sleep
Fist to Five/ Students communicated their level of
Thumbs Up, Thumbs Middle, Thumbs understanding to the teacher using their
Down fingers.
Positive responses are used to hone the “I
can” attitude of the students.

Teacher: Kaya?
Positive Responses Students: Kayang-Kaya!
(said with raised fists)

Teacher: Sino ang magiging marunong

magbasa?
Students: Ako yun! (place right hand over
their heart)

All students recite the sight words of the

week together to commit them to memory.
Sometimes, it’s turned into a “Teacher vs.
Student” game. This encourages them to
think first before they read and to awaken
their competitive spirit.
Dolch Sight Words Drill

These songs are sung every time the

students are asked to line up.

English version
(in the tune of “London Bridge is Falling
Down”):
“Everybody fall in line,
Lining Up Songs Fall in line, Fall in Line
Everybody fall in line
Stand up straight- oh!”

Filipino version
(in the tune of “Following the Leader” from
the Peter Pan movie)

“Lilinya ng maayos, maayos, maayos

Lilinya ng maayos
Kahit san magpunta”
RULES

These are the rules we expect our readers-

R.E.A.D Rules
All our Readers-to-be are required to leave
their thumb mark and sign their name
under the “I want to Learn so I will Read”
statement as a sign of their commitment to
the Reading Program.

Commitment Statement

REWARDS AND CONSEQUENCES

Pattern Clap slow and quick patterns and the students
must copy it.

Behavior cups are used for our readers-to-

be to remain on task and to encourage
good behavior inside the classroom.

Battery” cup will receive a point for the day
as a reward.
