Butterfly metamorphosis.

There are 4 stages in which a butterfly must pass in the process of metamorphosis
it passes. The four stages follow the scheme as shown in the butterfly
metamorphosis below.

The stages of butterfly metamorphosis.

1.Egg phase

The metamorphosis of butterflies begins with the egg phase. Adult butterflies
breed by laying eggs, the eggs will hatch between 3-5 days, the larvae will walk to
the edge of the leaves of the host plant and start eating it. Some larvae consume
empty eggshells as their first meal.

2. Phase of Larva
(Caterpillar).
In the metamorphosis of the butterfly, the larval or caterpillar phase of the
butterfly will pass through several stages of skin change. The stages of skin
change, in the science of insectology are called instars or molting. In one larval
cycle, which is around 5 to 7
days, butterflies will pass 4 to 6
instars.

3. Phase of Pupa (Cocoon)

The pupa phase is seen from the outside as a rest period, whereas in the pupa a
perfect insect formation process occurs. Pupa is generally hard, smooth and in the
form of a structure without limbs.

The pupa phase or also called the cocoon phase is the resting stage in the
butterfly metamorphosis process from the larval phase to the imago phase (adult
butterfly butterfly).

4. Imago (Butterfly) Phase

After leaving the pupa sheath,
butterflies will usually not fly
immediately. He will crawl over
the pupa and dry his wet and
tangled wings because of the
liquid that is followed from
inside the pupa. After the wings
dry and strong, then the butterflies learn to fly until they can fly perfectly.

Butterfly behavior.

The new female

butterfly will be ready to mate
after a period of 5 to 6 days
after leaving the cocoon.
butterflies are almost never
seen at night because they
are indeed animals that are only active during the day. butterflies can only fly at
an altitude of about 2 meters depending on the size of the wings they have.

In searching for food butterflies will fly individually. If they are seen flocking
together. that's a sign they will start the reproductive phase. male butterflies will
fertilize female butterflies, then female butterflies will lay eggs in leaves, and
repeat the life cycle of the butterfly.
