New Adventure

By. Saige Hanson- Fogarty

You’re packing up your bag,

And you're off to chase your life you lost,
Because you’re not sure where it went,
But you hope to find it in the mountains that taught you,
How to stand both tall and confident,
To see your life much better,
With your head above the clouds.

To swim through a river,

With its current moving fast,
How to show you to be careful,
And to wash away your past.

I hope you can be yourself,

From the greatness of the sea,
Where the eagles soar above you,
To make yourself feel free.

The night is falling fast,

And your fire's just a spark,
To show you in the dark,
There is always a place to shine,

But most of all,

I hope you can learn to be free,
But no matter the distance,
You will always be with me.

In my poem, I want people to feel emotion or to even feel inspired to go into the mountains to go
hiking and backpacking, and to just enjoy nature. I got inspired from this poem by the kids that I
got to teach during my internship. At the end, of this poem I want to see what other people got
out of my poem. The part where it talks about my the river, it connects back to me because when
I am feeling down or sad I always find a creek or river and just say my emotions to it, and I feel
that it just washes all those emotions down for me and makes me feel better.
