Brief Description of the Course

Human Resource Management (HRM) involves all management decisions and actions that affect the
nature of the relationship between the organization and its employees. With effective HRM the
organization acquires a competent and committed workforce, able to support the corporate strategy.
Therefore, organizations can create a competitive advantage through their people.

The HRM course prepares students to learn the art of managing human resource. This course places
emphasis on the management of people in the work environment by developing extensive understanding
of the concepts and methods used to attract, develop, and efficiently utilize the firm’s human resource.

It has become crucial for everyone in modern organizations, irrespective of field of specialization, to have
substantial knowledge of human resource management. Managing technical organizations without
significant knowledge of HRM is an awkward scenario. Human resource is fast becoming critical
resource of present day organization that defines the success in the competitive environment.
Course Objectives:

This course aims to impart training in following major areas of HRM:


 Understanding HRM.
 Knowledge and understanding of the various functions of the human resource activities of a firm.
 Understanding of the interrelationships among the human resource functions and between the
functions and environment.
 Decision-making regarding the HRM functions that will enhance the competitive advantages .

Project & Research Paper Instruction


Groups/Individuals will be required to carry out a comprehensive project on approved subject
organizations. The participants will be required to submit a project report after completion of every
module of study. Details and guidelines of the project will be provided to the students after the
commencement of classes.

Misc. Instructions:

 All classes are smoke and mobile free.


 Timely submission of Home Assignments is mandatory and if not turned in when due, the
student will be graded negatively.
 A maximum of 5 percent may be deducted. Individual homework means individual effort.
 Homework may be submitted via Email in case individual is out of town/country.
 Please keep on reading your emails daily to find any new classroom instructions.
 Latecomers will be considered/marked as absent in the class.
 Tea break timing will be strictly observed.
 Class sanctity is top most in our agenda while class is in session.
 All volunteers who present new ideas in the class will be highly encouraged.
No Student is allowed to call instructor on his cell phone. . This is very important to note
