information

Industry Connect
Program
The industry which has been growing at the rate of around 15 per cent currently will
start growing at the CAGR of over 20 per cent over the next five years. The wires and
cables industry in India has come a long way, growing from being a small industry to
a very large one, over the past decade. The increasing demand for power, light and
communication has kept demand high for wire and cable. This trend will continue as
demand for reliable, efficient energy and data communications will strengthen the
wires and cables industry in the future as well.

Over the last 20 years, the industry has shifted from being an unorganised sector to
an organised one. Still, 35 percent of the industry continues to be a part of the
unorganised sector. In India, the size of the cable manufacturing industry is
approximately Rs 40,000 crores. The specialised cable industry is roughly of the size
of Rs 10,000 crores. The government has announced ambitious plans for
infrastructure development. One of the primary focus area of the development plan
is railways, with over Rs 800,000 crore as promised investment over the period of
2015-2020.In addition, the government has ear marked Rs 50,000 crore (US$ 7.53
billion) to develop 100 smart cities across the country.

Highway projects worth $93 billion, which include government flagship National
Highways Building Project (NHDP) with total investment of $45 billion over next
three years, have also been announced. The Digital India campaign will require an
investment of Rs 4,50,000 crore. Ministry of Power is also looking at an investment of
Rs 15,000 lakh crore over the next 5 years.

The wire and cable industry will eventually focus on supplying cables for specific
applications pertaining to the industry needs. India has a lot of potential in the
mining, power, oil and gas, metro railways, cement industry, steel industry and other
sectors. Power cables, a critical segment of the power sector, is experiencing an
escalating demand owing to the growth in power generation infrastructure. India is
one of the biggest consumers of electric energy after the US and China.

Accelerated urbanization and growing concern over pollution have increased the
investment in metro rails for urban mass transportation. The country is predicted to
develop metro rails in at least 50 cities across India. Such developments where each
project requires more than $150 million is likely to attract many Indian and foreign
companies to take advantage of the huge growth opportunities.

Different kinds of cables like extra high voltage cables, elastomer cables, etc are
presently being used for special applications such as mining, in oil sector,
shipbuilding, cranes, elevators, solar power plants to harness power for new
generation motor vehicles, windmill solutions as well as security systems.

Industry Connect
Program
The growth in renewable power generation would be one of the primary factors for the
growth of the electric cable and wire market. The focus of several countries across
world to commercialize renewable power generation will create a significant demand
for electrical wires and cables. This is mainly due to the lack of a transmission and
distribution (T&D) infrastructure at locations where renewable energy resources are set
up.Moreover, the expansion of the existing renewable power generation plants in the
emerging countries will also result in increasing the demand for electrical wires and
cables.

Initiatives such as excise duty exemption for ferro-silicon magnesium and pig iron used
for manufacturing components for wind-operated electric power generators, and the
target set by the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission to generate more than
1,00,000 MW of solar power by the end of the year 2022, will boost the demand for
electrical wires and cables.

Rural electrification is another major factor which is expected to propel the growth of
the electric wire and cable market in the country. The government's goal to provide
electricity to every home by 2020 should attract major investments in the sector.

The cable and wire manufacturing operations consume raw-materials such as
copper coils, copper sheets, copper tapes, steel, aluminium, zinc, brass coils, brass
strips, bearings, CRCA steel, thermoset resin, polycarbonate, polyamide, other
engineering plastic, elastomers, transistor, diode, MPP Films, etc.

CONDUCTOR
Conductor is made of electrolytic grade high pure copper or aluminium. The
conductor is circular, stranded with high compactness and smooth surface finish.

CONDUCTOR SCREENING
Each conductor is provided with an extruded layer of semiconducting compound.
This eliminates the chance of electrical discharge at the interlace between
conductor and insulation.

INSULATION
The natural coloured XLPE compound with high dielectric strength is extruded over
semiconducting conductor screening with specified thickness in contamination-free
climate. Cross-linking is done by completely dry curing process.

INSULATION SCREENING
The Insulated Core is further extruded with a layer of semiconducting compound to
form the nonmetallic part of Insulation Screening. The conductor screening, XLPE
insulation and the non-metallic part of insulation screening are all extruded in one
operation by a special process, Triple Extrusion. This process ensures perfect
bonding between conductor screening and insulation screening with XLPE
insulation. This bond eliminates the formation of micro voids during extrusion &
curing. This ensures longer cable life under worst operating conditions. Non-
magnetic copper tape is applied as metallic part of insulation screen over the non-
metallic extruded part of the insulation screening.

CORE IDENTIFICATION
The core identification for three core cables is done by coloured strips applied on
the cores. The core identification also offered with core numbering tapes as per
requirement of customers.

LAYING UP
Three cores are laid up together to form the cable. The interstices are filled up with
non-hygroscopic type fillers, to make the cable circular.

Industry Connect
Program
INNER SHEATH (COMMON COVERING)
The three core laid up cable is provided with a common covering of wrapped
plastic tape/s or by an extruded PVC inner sheath, as per the requirement of
customer.

ARMOURING
Armouring is applied over the inner sheath in case of three core cables, For single
core cables it is applied over non-metallic part of insulation screening. Three core
cables have either galvanised round steel wire or galvanised steel strip armour.
Single core cables are armoured with hard drawn round aluminium wires. For
mining and other special applications, double wire/strip armoured cables can also
be offered.

OUTER SHEATH
The cables are provided with outer sheath of tough heat resisting PVC compound.
The outer sheath is extruded over armouring in case of armoured cables. For
Single Core Unarmoured Cables, outer sheath is extruded over the non-magnetic
metallic part of Insulation Screening. Outer sheath in general is of Black colour.

TRAINING
The trainings include programmes on communication, leadership and interpersonal
skills. The programmes also cover technical areas relating to machine technology
and handling, material sciences, manufacturing processes and safety and security.
The trainings are imparted to both permanent employees and the contractual
employees.

SAFETY INCIDENTS
As part of the incident management system, it is ensured that all incidents are
reported aberrations investigated, statistics maintained and analysed and
improvement projects are taken up on a regular basis. A stringent mechanism of
investigation is followed for any reportable incident that occurs in the factory
premises. A thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is undertaken, which identifies the
reasons for the incident and recommends corrective actions. The learnings from
these incidents are shared amongst the employees to prevent any recurrence. The
safety management is a combination of preventive and remedial approaches. Apart
from focussing on process related safety procedures, safety management also
includes managing risks against fires, disaster management and effective health
management of the employees that reduce the inherent risk and build the capacity
of the workforce. Incident-accident recording systems are maintained as per
regulatory requirements. All the manufacturing facilities monitor and record first aid
injury, minor injury and the reportable injury.

HUMAN RIGHTS
Child labour is strictly prohibited at the factory premises and offices. Finecab does
not work with any supplier or contractor known to operate with unacceptable labour
practices. The agreements with contractors and suppliers also mandatorily include
necessary clauses on human rights and child labour as specified by the Government
of India and Factory Act. There have been no cases identified or registered related to
child labour so far.

HR POLICIES
Recruiting and Hiring
While the manufacturing industry traditionally used unskilled, entry-level workers,
technology may require specific skills supporting your company's tasks. Your HR
policies may spell out these skills as minimum qualifications as a guideline for
screening and interviewing. If your business is subject to fluctuations in demand,
creating a policy covering the use of temporary staff to cover peak periods helps the
efficient use of workers for whom you likely pay an agency a higher hourly rate than
regular staff, without the experience or productivity.

Industry Connect
Program
Orientation and Training
Some elements of training are mandated outside your small business, such as
Occupational Safety and Health Administration training or state-sanctioned
equipment training, for example. Building this into your HR policy is a due diligence
safeguard, illustrating your company's intent to comply. Spelling out how you
implement that training makes your policy stronger. Mandating an orientation
package for new recruits in your policy aids their period of settlement. Consider
assigning plant tours and on-the-job training in your HR policy, so that all involved
know who is responsible for getting new hires up to speed.

Employee Retention
The company makes an investment with each employee hired. Given strong
demand for skilled workers. While wages and benefits contribute to job satisfaction,
HR policies that clearly outline job descriptions, chains of command, dealing with
workplace issues such as harassment and resources that employees can access also
contribute to a culture that engages staff.

Personal and Job Development

Small businesses may not have the resources to provide perks such as education
and fitness subsidies. Employees can use your HR policy manual to outline routes of
advancement. For example, list the education, training and experience for your ideal
supervisor, so that an ambitious staff member has direction to follow. This may exist
already if they've included job descriptions in HR policy. Consider outlining an
"inside track" for current staff to encourage the perception & care about their
growth as well as their work.

Promotional tactics for electric wire and cable wholesale and manufacturers
businesses are exceptionally diverse. But in our experience, there are a handful of
tips and strategies that will deliver the best return for your marketing efforts.
It's difficult to pinpoint a single marketing strategy that is capable of turning around
a struggling business. Yet one feature seems to be part of the shared DNA of all
effective marketing programs.

But by creating a strong marketing strategy, you undergird your connection to your
base. With that in mind, it's important to leverage marketing as a path toward better
customer engagement in your electric wire and cable wholesale and manufacturers
business's planning process.

How to Identify Prospective Buyers

Whether you know it or not, prospective buyers for your electric wire and cable
wholesale and manufacturers business are all around you. In fact, there is a good
chance you already know several individuals or companies that might be interested
in buying your business for a decent price. Although some electric wire and cable
wholesale and manufacturers business sellers advertise their businesses in general
classifieds, the most successful sales are those in which professional brokers seek
out likely buyers. If possible, steer clear of selling to a competitor if for no other
reason than the fact that competitors pay less for electric wire and cable wholesale
and manufacturers businesses than other buyers.

Price Matching
Don't underestimate the importance of competitive pricing in this industry. Even
though you've worked hard to create a unique value proposition, cost concerns are
serious issues for buyers. The principle is simple: Since pricing is a primary factor in
