The aim of this assignment is to assess student’s understanding of the theoretical principles of developing a
communication plan presented and to apply them in a practical manner.

This assessment task is a group assessment and should be attempted after completing all Modules

Background Information
Initial Project Brief (Assessment 1 and 2)
You are working for the SimTech Corporation. SimTech is a consumer electronics store that specialises in
selling electronic equipment, tools, furniture, home products and vehicles that make people’s lives easier.
They are a national business with 20 stores employing over 400 staff. Please see their website for further

The company in the last 12 months has started to plateau in sales and decline in customer service. Many of
the executive team feel that this is attributed to recent changes in the organisational structure coupled
with staff turnover in key positions. Management is worried that if things don’t pick up, it could hurt the
long-term brand reputation and profit projections for the organisation. You have been selected to manage
and run a project that will span the next 12 months. Choose one of the following to manage:

• Improve employee morale and reduce staff turnover to under 3%


• Improve sales of all stores by 20%
• Lift customer service ratings to above 4.5 stars
• Increase net profit for the organisation by 5%

Updates to the Project #1 (Assessment 3)


You are now 6 months into the project and management have advised that they have finished a take-over
of another tech retailer. Another 10 retail stores have now been added to SimTech’s portfolio.
Management want these stores added to your initial project scope. They want as minimal cost implications
as possible and ideally would like $0 additional spend.
