Dear Parents:

We hope that everyone had a restful holiday. As we head into the final six weeks of
the first semester, please talk to your child about ways to stay focused and manage
assignments. If a concern arises, encourage your child to take initiative for his/her
own learning and see a teacher for assistance. Progress reports for students with a
C- or Developing equivalent will be distributed during the week of November 15.

As you may well be aware, ISM is celebrating its 90th anniversary. We hope to see
you at either the performance by comedian Rex Navarette on Thursday, November
11 or at the Gala Night on Friday, November 12. Both events will be celebrations of
ISM – Sharing a History, Creating a Future.

IMPORTANT: GATE 3 Road closure on November 13 until 9:00 A.M.

Due to a fun run being held on the above date there will be no access to ISM campus via Gate 3 from 10:00 P.M. on
November 12 until 9:00 A.M. on November 13.

If you are coming to ISM at the above times access to the campus will be via Gate 2. Only limited parking will be avail-
able on the Power Center Car Park (between The HS and MS fields) until the road to Gate 3 reopens at approximately
9:00 A.M.

Parents/Drivers coming to drop students off for the following events please take note of the above and allow for this in
your planning in regards to campus access and limited parking options for the early part of Saturday morning on No-
vember 13th.

Middle School Yearbook Photo Shoot

If your child missed the Middle School Yearbook Photo Ses-

sion last October, he/she can have his/her picture taken

from November 15 to 19 (except Wednesday) in Room 1118

– Changing Room (beside the AMR). Photo order envelopes

are available in the Middle School Office.

Middle School Academic Bowl

On Wednesday, 10th November 2010, ISM will be hosting the first semester Middle Sshool Academic Bowl
competition against Faith Academy, Brent International School and ISM.

Parents are very welcome to watch this event, details of which are listed below.

Dutch School Initiative

Nederlandse Taal en Cultuur

Vind je het leuk als je kinderen de kans krijgen om op een leuke en educatieve manier
bezig te zijn met de Nederlands Taal en Cultuur?

Wij zijn op zoek naar gezinnen die met ons een Nederlandse naschoolse activiteit willen
starten op ISM.
Als er genoeg belangstelling is kan dit worden uitgebreid naar een officiële NTC school.

Dutch Language and Culture

Would you like your kids to get a chance to learn Dutch Language and Culture in a
Creative and Educational way?

We are looking for Dutch & Belgium Families interested to start a Dutch Language and
Culture After School Activity at ISM.
If there is enough interest it could be expanded to an official NTC school.

NOVEMBER IS A BUSY SWIMMING MONTH,

SWIMATHON
This Saturday, November 6th is Sailfish Swimathon
Bring a plate of food to share with your team mates.
Don’t forget every swimmer must have a person counting for them.
AGE GROUPS
Session One – Elementary School – Registration 2:15 -Swim 2:30-3:30 -Eat 3:30
Session Two – Middle School – Registration 3:15 -Swim 3:30-4:30 -Eat 4:30
Session Three – ISM Adult Community – Registration 4:15 -Swim 4:30-5:30
Session Four – High School – Eat 4:45 -Registration 5:15 –Swim 5:30-7:30

ES/MS/HS divisional web pages. Please note the game schedule does change often due to involvement
with many local schools so please check the page regularly to find out the latest information of where
and when the Bearcats teams are playing. Access to the game schedule page is also available via the

ISTA Drama Festival Update

ISTA DRAMA FESTIVAL: UPDATE: We still require 5 placements for the ISTA Drama housing..see below for
details.
ISM is excited to be hosting this year’s ISTA Middle School Theatre Festival! The International Schools Theatre Associa-
tion (ISTA) facilitates two MS festivals each year in Asia, which provide an amazing opportunity for international stu-
dents from around the world to engage in new theatrical experiences and to develop skills that will deepen their pas-
sion for performance. As a school, ISM has been a proud supporter and participator of ISTA, and we now have the op-
portunity to give the participants an experience they will never forget! We will be hosting the first ever Musical Thea-
tre ISTA festival, and we are very excited about welcoming other international students to the Philippines and to our
wonderful school.

The ISM ISTA Festival will take place November 19-21 (Friday to Sunday), and will involve as many as 100 students from
other countries, as well as our own ISM participants. As with any event, the whole ISM community has the opportunity
to get involved in this Middle School event. The most significant way for the ISM community to get involved is to pro-
vide housing for the visiting students. If you are able to host some students, you may contact the ATAC Office and/or
the Fine Arts Office at badiangoj@ismanila.org and/or talense@ismanila.org . Most guests will arrive on November 18th
and will depart on either November 21st or 22nd. If you would like to help out with organization or facilitation during
the ISTA Festival, you may also contact Vicki Close in the Fine Arts Office (closev@ismanila.org) for more details on how
you can help.
