Here is what we were up to at school this week:

Math

-students learned about more than, less than, or equal to

-they have compared different objects in the room and figured out which group of
objects contained more. They have also been working with using the symbols <, >, =.

Home Connection

Ask your child what they have more or less of while eating dinner/snack. They will
be able to tell you if they have more red LEGO than blue LEGO, etc.

Language

-students working with Ms. Gurney are working on the characteristics of non-
fiction text (e.g. table of contents, photographs, labels, headings, captions, etc.).
Students have drawn and labelled a picture.

-students working with Mrs. Smyth have been learning about the word ‘go’.

Home Connection

When your child is reading his/her borrowed book you can ask him/her to tell you
if it’s fiction (make-believe) or non-fiction (facts) or find the word the various
places (e.g. books, signs, etc.)

Outdoor

-students created art with chalk outside this week along with having free time to
explore the outdoors.

Home Connection

Students can go on a nature walk and identify things they see that are living/non-
living.
Have a wonderful long weekend! There is no school on Monday!
