Geography of World War 1 AOL

World War 1 was the war that was going to end all wars. The war first started in 1914
where it quickly became a very bloody war due to the loss of millions of soldiers. Most of the
men that were killed in action their bodies were found only in pieces. They did not think that the
war was not going to be different one the ones that they had sw before or they did not think it
was going to be very long, but it was a very different war. What exactly made it a different type
of war? It was a different type of war because of where they were fighting and the way that the
soldiers were fighting. It is also about how they were fighting because World War 1 was so big
that there was a lot of different ways as to how people were fighting.
First off the war was fought in many different locations all over the world. They were
soldiers that were fighting in the Western Front, Eastern Front, Gallipoli Front as known as
Middle East, Alp front which is also known as the Italian Front, Africa, the Far East, and the men
were also having to battle at sea. There were troops from many different countries in different
parts of the world. There was a lot of lives lost in the battles. In the Western Front, the countries
that were fighting against each other was the french and English were fighting against the
German forces. The western front was also one of biggests battles of the war because it lasted up
to four months.
In the Eastern front, Russia was fighting against Germany and the Austro- Hungarian where
Russia had lost against them. The Gallipoli Front had a lot of battles on from most of the
countries. The Alp Front is where a lot of soldiers died. In fact 1 millions soldiers had died there.
The African front was War was fought between the colonial territories. The war at sea was a war
that was fought between Britain and Germany where the British had lost 14 ships only the
German had only lost 11 ships.It was the war’s only full blown fight between the ships of Britain
and Germany. The far east was Japan fighting against Germany and they were outnumbered.
Japan had won against Germany because of their navy.
Secondly, the fighting and the battles were affected by the geography of the war because
some fronts had more land than the others or there was no land involved at all. The people were
trying to get rid of the parts of land such as hills so that it was easy for them to reach their
enemies. They would be trying to change the way of the land in order to be able to reach their
enemies better. Another thing of that they would do the land in order to be able to reach their
enemies better is that they would make trenches. There were systems of tunnels that were made.
The tunnels were 6 to 10 feet tall and they were 6 feet wide with three or four lines of trenches.
Each one was separated by about 100 metres; zig-zag patterns.
Lastly, the areas of land that the battles were happening in were very different from the
last wars that the world had saw because it was stretched on longer than expected. The war was
happening all day everyday. So the countries did not prepare their men very well to the change of
land. They also had to suffer with not having food for weeks on end because of this. The trench
conditions and many soldiers were dying because of the conditions. The troops were not also
well prepared because of that idea more men were killed due to the new tactics and machinery.
In conclusion, what exactly made it a different type of war? It was about how they were
fighting because World War 1 was so big that there was a lot of different ways as to how people
were fighting. It was a different type of war because of where they were fighting and the way
that the soldiers were fighting. The soldiers were also not very well prepared for this war to have
gone on for that long. World War 1 was a war that had cost many men’s life since that they were
fighting.
