1. NETWORK SURVEILLANCE INTERN AT BOTSWANA TELECOMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Work as part a 24/7 rota bank to monitor network performance (including standing in for NMC team member when away due to other BTC business demands). Network Fault Handling and escalation Coordinate customer and network data faults repairs with operations and maintenance teams. Network performance monitoring Alarms investigation and identifying faults Receive calls from field engineers to perform testing and process customer’s complaints and see to their resolutions for all services of BTCL, which include fixed, mobile, fibre microwave links and Power failures. Monitoring data communication network and internet traffic both locally and internationally 24 hours. Tracking and keeping records of network problems/issues to resolution Trouble ticket raising when the fault cannot be resolved remotely by NOC configuration specialist. Escalation of network faults handling to relevant personnel where necessary, especially on problems requiring physical presence at the site. Fault diagnosing Providing Field Engineers with relevant information to the fault handled. Handing over to the next technician when the shift ends. SEPTEMBER 2016 TO FEBRUARY 2017 2. OPTICAL FIBRE SPLICER ASSISTANT AT TELETECHNICS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: As an Assistant optical fiber splicer technician I was responsible for terminating and testing aerial and underground fiber optic systems, updating and maintaining project tracking information such as production sheets, timesheets and customer required Paperwork. Responsible for preparing and splicing fiber optic cable. Familiar with fiber optic splice closures, OTDR testing, Optical power meter and Fiber Identifier. Customer Service ‐ Interaction with project owners, engineers and coordinating with customers and Engineers for scope changes and communicating those changes to the Project Manager. Fiber Splicing Skills‐ Preparing various types of outside plan fiber optic cables for splicing, operate fiber optic test equipment, reading and understanding the test results for troubleshooting purposes.
