My Kidneys

Objective:

Describe the function of the kidneys.


Materials:
funnel salt ketchup

filter paper or old clean cloth patis water

scissors soy sauce beaker or clean


cup
flour sand

Procedure:

1. Form the cone with the filter paper, then line the inside of the funnel
2. Mix the water, soy sauce or patis, ketchup, flour, salt and a little amount
of sand in a beaker or cup
3. Stir slightly.
4. Pour the mixture into the funnel or improvise filtering device.
5. Observe what happens.
6. Record your observation.

THE KIDNEYS

 The kidneys are two organs located in your midsection on either side of
your spine in the middle of your back, just above the waist and are
partially protected by the lower ribs.

 Each kidney is bean shape and is almost the same size of a person’s
clenched fist.

 Each kidney has about 1 million nephrons, which are tiny filters in the
kidney.
These tiny filtering units help clean the blood of wastes and remove
excess water.
