■ Cautions when Mounting the Expansion Valve

・ Connect the expansion valve on the horizontal piping line vertically so that the coil portion
of the valve faces upwards while the arrow mark on the valve and the refrigerant flow
direction are the same.
・ Secure the body of the expansion valve using the two φ6.2mm mounting holes to avoid
vibration.
・ Mount the liquid supply solenoid valve together with the strainer at the inlet port of the
expansion valve. (Recommended strainer: Model KCY-F, complete with felt manufactured
by KYOWA IRON WORKS)
・ Use well cleaned pipe only and take special care that no foreign matter such as welding
slag enters the valve. Foreign matter remaining inside the pipe will lead to damage
at the valve seat, causing malfunction, coil burning, etc.
・ Care must be taken to ensure that the surface of the gasket of the valve is free from
scratches or damage during the mounting work.
・ Do not apply insulation material to the coil portion of the valve to prevent the coil
temperature rising.

■ Cautions when Welding Steel Pipe (MWP-1520-NP)

· When welding the expansion valve to the piping line, protect all parts other than the body
of the valve to prevent any thermal change during the work, otherwise leakage of the valve
seat, refrigerant leakage, etc. may develop.
・ Carry out welding work using welding rod suitable for stainless steel pipe.
(Material of the valve body is SCS13).

■ Cautions during Assembly Work

▪ Before commencing assembly work, confirm that all parts of the expansion valve are free of
defects, scars or deformation (especially on the gasket and the surface of the valve seat).
▪ Fill up the space between the molded coil and the pipe portion of the plunger case with silicon
grease as a waterproofing measure.
▪ Care must be taken to ensure that the coil portion and the pipe portion of the plunger case
are free from excessive weight, scars or deformation.
▪ Secure the coil using the attached coil gland bolt, coating blue locking paint on the thread
portion.
▪ Tighten all parts to the specified torque values.

※ Confirm that the voltage and frequency shown on the label are exactly the same as
that of the power source.
※ Do not apply excessive tension on the lead wire or the terminal box, otherwise
major damage to the expansion valve may result.
※ Mount two quick fusible fuses on the power source line of the expansion valve (outlet
side of controller)
※ If there is a potential for dew generation on the expansion valve, attach a leak breaker
on the power source line of the valve and fill the terminal box of the expansion valve
with silicon grease.

WARNING

‧ Maintenance work of the expansion valve should be carried out only when
there is no power supply, otherwise there is potential for electric shock.
‧ Disassembly of the expansion valve should be performed only af ter disposition
of any refrigerant remaining inside the valve.
‧ When ON-OFF frequency reaches two million cycles or within one year following
previous maintenance, whichever comes first, renew the NP ori fice assembly,
NP plunger assembly and t he plunger case together.
