researchers also want to know the different kinds of sustainable business

practices in the Accommodation industry and the barriers and benefits of it.

The study utilized the quantitative and qualitative methods of research

employing the descriptive approach through using the t-test for independent

means average weighted mean for the quantitative analysis and coding and

theming in the qualitative analysis. The researchers utilized the purposive

sampling technique to collect data from a sample of 30 business

owners/managers and 30 workers/staffs of the respective business

establishments. The average weighted mean is used to identify the level of

attitude and action from the survey questionnaire that used a 5-point Likert

scale in measuring the respondents. Attitude includes positive and negative.

On the other hand, action includes environmental, economic, socio-cultural

and institutional on sustainability of business in Accommodation Industry in

Lapu-Lapu City.

The study therefore, concludes that the prevailing action of business

managers/owners to sustainability is environmental action (Elkington, 2015).

These actions are also connected to the attitude of managers/owners to

sustainability because managers/owners from Small and Medium Enterprises

are unlikely to take risks, customer-friendly, innovative and conscientious.

SMEs prioritize environmental action because it incurs the least cost and

creates a good image to the target market. These actions and attitudes are

confirmed by the employees/workers as they responded similar results to

the owners/managers. In addition, benefits of sustainability include cost

reduction, employee satisfaction, public relations and consumer demands.

Furthermore, barriers of sustainability include involved cost, complexity

concept and lack of information.

There is no significant difference between the attitude of the managers

as evaluated by managers and staff based on the t-test dependent means.

However, economic, environmental, socio-cultural and institution indicator

have significant difference as evaluation by managers and staff.

The study recommends to study a wider scope of subject, get more

respondents in qualitative and quantitative, the respondents can be from

bigger industry (4-5 star rating) and further studies about business

sustainability.
