BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE WORLD LPG ASSOCIATION (WLPGA)

On behalf of the Board of Directors and Industry

Council of the WLPGA, it is my pleasure and honor to
welcome colleagues and friends from all corners of
the globe to the 31st World LPG Forum which will take
place in the modern city of Houston in the U.S.A.

This year, the partnership of the World LPG Forum with

the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) and
Associación Iberoamericana de Gas Licuado de
Petróleo (AIGLP) provides you a marvelous opportunity
to advance your LPG interests through contact with
global leaders of the LPG Industry and first-hand
exposure to the latest LPG technical and market
information.

The theme of this year’s Forum is “Tomorrow’s Energy

Today”.

This provides a unique opportunity for participants

to discuss the business prospects and constraints of
both developed and developing countries alongside
the work of these three important LPG associations.

Recently the global LPG market has been growing

steadily both in production as well as in the number of
diverse end-use applications. The United States has
become a major exporter of LPG, while Latin America
has been constantly developing, not just its applications,
but significant, positive developments in regulatory
practices in several different countries has occurred.

Profound discussion of ongoing projects will be held

in this Forum, including the application of modern
technologies and systems such as the Cloud, the
Internet of Things, Big Data, etc. These may represent
real innovation and improved profitability in operations,
enabling us to hire and keep new and young talent –
something very necessary in our segment today.

WELCOME REMARKS
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE IBERO-AMERICAN LPG ASSOCIATION (AIGLP)
It will be a great honor for me, as President of AIGLP,
to receive colleagues and friends from all regions
of the world, especially the Ibero-Latin American
regions, for this important international event,
the 31st World LPG Forum, organised by WLPGA
with the support of AIGLP.
This event, bringing together CEOs of the
industry’s most important companies, leaders of
business associations, suppliers and government
representatives, is even more significant because it
will be held in the city of Houston, the oil capital of
the world. A city that, for more than a century, has
had energy as the primary focus of its economic
activity, hosting major companies that represent the
latest advances in knowledge, technology and
experience in the various segments of the oil and
gas industry.
This setting, therefore, is highly appropriate for the
central theme of our encounter: “Tomorrow’s Energy
Today”.
Even with all the competition out there and the
growth of renewable energy sources, the advantages
offered by LPG – especially energy efficiency, low
environmental impact and the low investment in
infrastructure – guarantee this energy source an
outstanding role, both in the daily routine of families
as well as in commerce, industry and agribusiness.
It is highly significant for us, of AIGLP, to see Latin
America occupying a prominent place in the
international LPG industry, since it is a market under
development both regarding supplies as well as
distribution.
“Tomorrow’s Energy Today”. This phrase reflects
the great responsibility we all have, in view of
the trends of the world LPG market. A market in
which most of the growth in consumption is coming
mainly from China, among other countries of Asia
and the Middle East, and will be supplied by the
regions that produce more LPG than they need
domestically. While the United States continues as
the world’s largest exporter, several other countries
also stand out as competitors, such as Russia, Iran,
Nigeria, Algeria, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates,
Saudi Arabia and the European countries bordering
the North Sea.
We know that the challenges are many. For example,
in my country, Brazil, we have been working hard
to develop new uses of LPG, despite old legislation
that is still restrictive. Additionally, the industry
has been making efforts for the construction of
and access to an efficient supply infrastructure.
A comparable situation exists in other Latin American
countries, such as Mexico, Colombia and Peru.
All this demonstrates the great strategic importance
of this World LPG Forum, which will have the
partnership of major entities besides the WLPGA,
such as the Ibero-American Association, which I have
the honor to represent at this time.
Thus, in expectation of the complete success of this
event, I wish to thank the Organising Committee of
the 31st World LPG Forum and, with great satisfaction,
I await the presence of those who, in their own
countries, dedicate all their experience, competence
and enthusiasm to LPG.

Rooms have been pre-booked for participants at the event
venue at discounted rates. In order to benefit from these
rates, reservation requests must be submitted and handled
exclusively by the organising secretariat, MCI (under
reservation conditions indicated below). Rates are per
night and per room and include city tax, free internet
connection and exclude breakfast. Breakfast charges must
be settled at the hotel upon check-out along with other
incidentals.
Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Houston,
Hilton Americas-Houston has been selected by the
organisers as the Forum venue and official hotel. It is also
connected to the George R. Brown Convention Center
where the WLPGA Members Meetings will take place via
two indoor skywalks. This AAA Four-diamond hotel is just
steps away from a range of different dinner locations and
attractions such as Discovery Green Park, Toyota Center
(basketball stadium), BBVA Compass Stadium (soccer
